National Republican leaders are toasting primary season as a smashing success over activist conservatives that has put the hard right on the ropes and given the Washington GOP the slate of candidates it wanted for 2014.

Those victories, however, have come at a staggering cost — and Republicans are painfully aware of the price of putting down an intraparty insurrection.

The scope of the effort to suppress activist-backed candidates has been broader and costlier than is widely understood, covering at least 20 House and Senate primaries from North Carolina to California, and from coastal Mississippi to the outer tip of Long Island. The loose coalition of establishment forces encompasses two dozen advocacy groups, industry associations and super PACs that have raised and spent millions on behalf of Washington’s chosen candidates.

The staggering price of crushing the tea party - POLITICO.com

The Tea Party is forcing the GOP to spend inordinate amounts of money to keep them off ballots across the country. Proving yet again that they are the gift that just keeps on giving...to the left.

The GOP has no love for you, TP. Isn't it about time you left the party and started one of your own?

I see no problem with this whatsoever. The GOP establishment should be forced to expend resources if it insists on shunning the real, genuine, true-to-our-principles, grassroots conservative patriots in America. Defeating us is not easy, will not be easy, and it should not be easy. That message is abundantly clear.

Sorry, but tea baggers aren't patriots. They're just clueless emotional nobodies with no ideas. They say they're for smaller government, but don't address the larger issues of the budget and really have no clear ideas on how to run things better. Were it not for the congressional districts being rigged, the tea baggers wouldn't exist as the party would have to nominate candidates who would actually face a competitive election.

Basically, the tea baggers only exist because the election districts are rigged. Being emotional, unwilling to compromise and having no real ideas doesn't make you a patriot. Were the founding fathers like the tea baggers, they'd still be arguing over a constitution.

I read the Politico article earlier and it occurred to me the one true triumph of the Obama administration might be the end of the GOP. He divided the country racially, by religion, by income, and politically as the people in the Tea Party were the only ones with the courage to fight back. How many ticked off McDaniel supporters are going to vote for Cochran? Pundits like to talk about the GOP swell this November...here in NY I'm not even going to vote. I'll be curious to see how other Republicans react.

Those Republicans who work with Democrat groups, and support, and donate to Democrat politicinas are not really Republicans, now are they.

In mississippi we had Sen. Cochran working with Democrat groups to defeat his Republican challenger.

An unusual coalition of activists and organizations have united in the hopes of defending Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) in his June 24 runoff against state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R-Miss.).

Democratic Pro-Cochran Group Admits to Funding Racist Tea Party Flier in Mississippi | The Gateway Pundit

As the Clarion-Ledger*reported Tuesday, James “Scooby Doo†Warren, a Democratic political operative, says he is working with the Mississippi Conservatives PAC on a statewide plan to turn out votes for Cochran.

I think its funny and stupid that the OP thinks that anyone would fall for that... split up the party so the Democrats would have a majority? Really, some people should just remove the bulb from the socket... its a waste of electricity...

I quit reading your post with your use of the term "teabagger." I knew then you had absolutely nothing intelligent to offer.

It's true, Obama might be the cause of the demise of the GOP through the Tea Party, as the Tea Party was born in direct response to Obama's election. But he didn't divide the country, the GOP did that by unleashing the Tea Party on America. And now they are trying to contain the monster they created.

The GOP has stymied Obama at every turn, but maybe he will get the last laugh on them after all.

You really have no idea what you're talking about, do you? The GOP unleashed the Tea Party? The GOP hates the Tea Party, why do you think they enlisted gullible blacks to help them defeat McDaniel.

Talk about a dim bulb. The party has spent inordinate amounts of money to keep the Tea Party down. They're actively working against you, working to suppress your voice and keep you from being represented in the party. But hey, stick with them anyway, and be their stooges, good for votes when they need you, but not good enough for a seat at the table. That's your idea of intelligence.

Either way, the war within the GOP works for the Democrats.
