Why do you think the Secretary of the Treasury (Geithner and Lew) names don't come up more in media stories or in the hearings about the IRS scandal (targeting or cover-up)? The IRS commissioners go through that person to get to the White House. The IRS Commissioner doesn't bypass the Secretary of the Treasury (also an apointee) when communicating with the White House (or in the budget process). I'm truly baffled by this. Any ideas?

Did Geithner have time to deal with tax exempt organizations? Wasn't most of his time spent providing cover for Wall Street corruption?

It's amazing how one steps back from the frenzy of screaming scandal and get them...the inconsistencies in the accusations start to arise.

Things people who don't get caught in a zealous rage figured out a long time ago.

Historically, you rarely see Treasury mentioned when stories about IRS come up.

If you do its usually in conjunction with proposed legislation related to tax policy.

IMO its intentional in order to keep the IRS as apolitical as possible.

That's a good opinion.
