you are missing something here, this is just the first article on this subject. once the rest of the PC crowd gets their hands around the "controversy" it will expand and more articles will be written, and there might even be protests.

in the end however these helicopters do honor the indian nations they are names after. the apache and commanche choppers can pop up and deliver devastating firepower at a moments notice, just like the warriors they are named after. these choppers are feared by our enemies, just like the warriors they are named after.

I'm not missing anything. You know what's worse than the PC crowd? Those who whine pointlessly about the PC crowd. It's made worse when they try to pretend that they're concerned about the history and state of native Americans when they're obviously only mentioning something to try to make a point.

You're preemptively claiming victim status?

We need to immediately go through the entire list of things named after NA's and change them to cool sounding Norwegian names, I would absolutely love that. Hopefully none of my Norwegian brothers and sisters would put up a fuss, we'd love to be honored like those names are meant as. When people think of NA's just let it be them thinking about Casino's and Fireworks. There's no proud history there that needs to be remembered by the rest of us, no matter how trivial it is.

Cave at the first sign of dissent, move to those of us who won't whine.

The city of Seattle is racist - it is named after a Native American.

I'd like to name the next piece of military hardware "Texan". Heck, can we change the Washington Redskins to the Four Eyed White Dudes?

Trust me, I'm at the point where I'm all in favor of not mentioning anything about Native Americans. Let their names be synonymous with casinos for all I care.

History proves they should have done a better job securing their borders.

All this to deflect from the real issues facing our country.
schools, mascots and not army helicopters.
If I were American Indian I would be honoured to have one of those bad-ass helicopters named after me!
same with a football team.

In case any of you do truly want to honor native Americans, then feel free to do something like write some posts asking for the destruction of "Mount Rushmore". It's not bad enough that you steal sacred land from a native people, but then to carve statues of your leaders into those hills is just terrible.
An example of what the PC police are all about.
