Actually you are close, but you just missed the mark. The problem isn't the lack of married couples, it is the number of teen moms. That is why it is Important to teach sex ed at a young age and to focus on girls to better themselves through education so that they learn the importance of safe sex and proper family planning so that they marry and have kids at a more responsible age.
I think the two go hand-in-hand. Not too many teens are going to be married.
I agree they should be teaching sex ed, giving out condoms, all that stuff.
I agree. Trying to shame anyone doesn't work (well, rarely, if ever). What will work is strong black males taking a firm but supportive stance with boys/young adults. A family unit is ideal but obviously lacking however, uncles, grandfathers, men in the church do help out.
Boys need fathers in their lives to teach them how to be men, good men. Some of these videos address things similar to what you are talking about.
Agree, boys need fathers, yet 70% of black mothers who give birth each year aren't married.
Keyword is "not married". This doesn't take into account whether or not the mother gets married to the father of her child. It doesn't take into account whether or not the father is still in the child's life. To get a better idea, one has to consider how many of the fathers stick around up to the child's 18th birthday.
Are you saying married parents don't matter to a child? Your parents were married, weren't they? Marriage matters to kids.
I never said marriage didn't matter. I said the status of the parents when the child is born isn't doesn't say anything about where the father is at. It also doesn't take into account that the couple gets married later on.
