40 years in IT. But, I am certainly not saying they had good backup procedures, just what they were and their limitations. They were pretty low tech.

Sweeping the floor in a data center doesn't count -or- you're going to ignore your experience in IT and believe this story, that has to be one large set of blinders. You *should* know full well the probability of losing ALL that data without severe damage to the platter is nil especially when it's been sent to a forensics lab.

With an IT budget of 1.8 billion dollars they certainly could of found a few thousand each month to make proper backups.

Six months, eh?
Well, at the time that the drive "crashed" the backups were still there.
They could have retrieved the backed up data before the tapes were overwritten.

I happened to have worked for one of the top guys in the IRS IT department. Knowing HIS expertise I serially DOUBT that they were "low tech".

I am going to follow the Republican lead on this.

See the Alex wagner story on Louie Gommert and his 1 million dollar bounty. E-mails have come out from the Tech people saying that they cound not fix the hard drive and sent it to the forensic Dept who also could not fix it. She was telling the truth

Gomer knows a good bet when he sees one. He knew he would never be paying that bounty.

Just keep repeating the information till it sticks

Do you honestly believe all of these are phony scandals?

Fast and Furious - 300 Mexicans have been shot by Fast and Furious guns according to 1 Mexican official's count. Eric Holder lied to congress about the program, Obama lied about the program, Obama lied and blamed the program on Bush to hide the fact that it started in Obama's White House. Then Mr. Transparency issues an executive order to shut down any meaningful investigation. How is that phony? Would you be calling it phony if one of your relatives had been shot? If it were phony, why does Obama and Holder lie and falsely pass the buck off elsewhere?
