It may be said Communism was a religion, where the gods were Marx, Engels and Lenin. You could be Russian, Chinese or Cuban and be part of it, so long as you were committed to the ideal. Nice dream, COOPERATION, something god himself would do. The poor had something to look to. Now that religion has failed, out of touch with reality. It failed to account for corrupt individuals.

But a new religion rose from its ashes: Globalization. The theory goes that HARDCORE COMPETITION will bring peace and prosperity to the world. Just another out of touch religion. Trade and not war will be the way of nations. Rather utopian.

Reality: Globalization will bring INTENSE COMPETITION over resources, war and pollution. Quality of life? Only if you consider SUVs and gated communities the wave of the future and you deny climate change. Any deviation from the faith, from riding a bicycle in your community to saving energy amounts to excommunication. How about corruption? Again, corrupt individuals fail to spread out all the wealth brought about by Capitalism.

Where's the solution? I'm looking up to the heavens waiting for inspiration.
