Exactly!
The last thing we need is more rewarding and magnets to encourage this - can't you just see the news in Central America filled with pictures of these kids getting teddy bears and goodies??!!

They are here and there is very little we can do about it to make them deported soon if ever. I see nothing wrong with providing food and whatever to them. It's the right and compassionate thing to do but along with that you need to keep hounding DC, your Reps and demand this end and reaffirm your disapproval of illegal immigration. Heck, call your local radio shows, your local news stations. Let them know and demand they cover this story if they arent.

There are still a lot of peope who really dont seem to be taking this seriously. Our President is one of them.

The kids who came here aren't exactly watching the news or they would have realized that they'll be deported eventually anyways. I live here, watch and read the news and have no idea of what that idiot crybaby is doing. That's going to have 0 influence on the whole situation.

What we need is what I put on my post 2 pages ago. Some of you should read it. You'd actually know what you were talking about if you did.

Their response wasn't good and neither was his personal response.

We spend $14B total on the border every year. Katrina was $108B. The amount of damage was nicely 7 times what we spend in total on the border. A slight increase in the number and specifically the types of illegals crossing the border isn't remotely near a natural disaster that costs us 7 x more than what is spent on the whole border every year.

1833 American citizens dead and 108,000,000,000 in damage compared with a slight increase in the number of illegals crossing. Yeah, that's not remotely the same.

Having unqualified poorly motivated workers is not necessarily the best way to get things done. That's ignoring the logistics of making a slew of new temporary prisons along the border and any increased thread to the public. Prisoners working is great for license plates since they can do it in the prison. Building walls next to Mexico is rather stupid. They could run across the border and the prison guards wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
"Brownie wasn't qualified to run FEMA" I disagree. He SUCCESSFULLY handled 4 HURRICANES INFla.

Like they say, "It takes 2 to tango". I this case it takes 3. The Gov. the mayor, who is now in jail serving 10 years, and FEMA.

I won't rehash ALL the things the Gov. and Mayor did wrong here but, you might to do some research before making such false statements.

Brownie went for a reason. Bush never pushed loyal people out without cause. We weren't discussing state or local figures. That the mayor went to jail is also a red herring. Learn how to debate. Should you want to discuss the state and local response to the situation, then start another thread.

Brownie resigned. Had he not done anything wrong, Bush wouldn't have allowed it. He was loyal to his people to a fault.

The root cause of the problem is a bill that was passed to stop child trafficking causing delays in processing young illegal immigrants combined with rumors and confusion passing in South America with people thinking that if they're under 16 they get to stay.

The law ? William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act. Deportation of children from the United States to countries not bordering the United States is much more difficult. The Mexican kids who have shown up this year, some 11000 of them have all been sent by bus back to Mexico. The net result for the non-Mexican kids is that while they'll be deported, they have a long wait and processing time ahead of them. The DOJ is offering up some lawyers for them, but right now there's a backlog.

The rumors ? During the lead up to the 2012 electoral campaign you had Rubio proposing the Dream Act and Obama using an executive order to delay the deportation of children who entered the country before 2007. The children who have come typically haven't gone back as they're stuck in the backlog. These three things seem to feed the rumor mill amongst poor uneducated children in South America.

Who's to blame?

For passing the law? Nobody. It passed unanimously in the House and almost unanimously in the Senate and was signed by Bush and re-upped by Obama. It was meant to protect children from sex traffickers. Obviously, nobody anticipated that there would be this big influx of young illegals coming to the country.

For the rumors? Nobody. The US can't control what is said in other countries. Obviously, some PR campaigns in those countries to get the word out is needed.

What needs to be done

POTUS - Already proposed what's needed to clear the backlog, deal with the border and education in those countries

Republicans - Take a break from whining like little children and blaming Obama for everything and do their jobs. Pass what he asked for and work pro-actively to push ideas that are reasonable and will help. In other words, stop fundraising and do your jobs.

Democrats - Work with the above to not obstruct this one narrow bit of immigration reform

People on this forum - Read this thread and be better informed than the vast majority of America on this topic and start realizing that no, not everything is one guy's fault or anyone's fault and do your research before posting about something.

Enjoy. Perhaps we can close the thread now.

"Republicans - Take a break from whining like little children and blaming Obama for everything and do their jobs. Pass what he asked for and work pro-actively to push ideas that are reasonable and will help. In other words, stop fundraising and do your jobs."

Perhaps you should take YOUR OWN ADVICE and quit whining about the repubs.

" Pass what he asked for and work" What a surprise. Socking, just SHOCKING! What he has proposed is nothing bit a bunch of B.S.

" Perhaps we can close the thread now" Hopefully YOU will adhere to your own advice. We don't need anymore O boot licking.
