No, the OP does not want illegals swamping this nation. However, accosting children on a bus is no way to go about it. What did those children do? Why not go after the government that is allowing illegal immigrants a pass? Why not go after the businesses that hire illegal immigrants? Why did the protesters go after children? And why did the protesters assume that those children were illegal immigrants?

You've got to love the visuals that are going out to the world--ignorant right wing Americans threatening busloads of refugee children fleeing violence in their home countries. Once again, the right wing proves to be an embarrassment to all Americans.

Why the hell aren't Democrats shelling out their own money to deal with this? Open up their districts and homes? Pelosi has not offered anything to them of her own.
What about Reagan, who first signed amnesty into law? What about Bush and his amnesty plan? It isn't only the Democrats doing this. Republicans are doing it as well.

His first attempt at reform/amnesty did not happen as he planned. He vowed to try again and he did in his second term. Despite strong bipartisan support, there were not enough votes.

He also knew he needed the senior vote and signing the unfunded Medicare Part D into law allowed him to capture the senior vote.
We can go back even further, to when Reagan did the same thing.

Reagan did it with the assurance that the border would be secure which never happened.

I fault the establishment plenty on amnesty and not securing the border. Faux conservatives. So no, it's not just democrats, but most democrats and some establishment GOP types.

It's a message that's been out there for some time now. The fact that there is a such a sudden influx speaks to the violence that these children are fleeing from right now. And yes, right wingers and their hateful targeting of refugee children are an embarrassment to this country. I hope the rest of the world knows that the right wing is only a small percentage of the population, and that most Americans are better than that.

It is typical of those that are passionate about an issue to assume because one dares question anything something that they feel is the correct action as that person believing in things that they may not. Hence people assume because someone pointed out that some Morons stopped busses going to camp that that equates to wanting illegals to overun the Nation, jumping to conculsions usually only makes the person doing the jumping look foolish, and their posts prove that to be the case.

We need to let immigration start back again like it used to be when the Irish came over. Read some news articles from that time, the exact same things were said of the Irish, as are said of the Hispanic illegal immigrant population today.
As has been said, at one time or another, about any group of immigrants who made their way into the country. There are a number of differences in the circumstances under which between the Irish, and other groups of immigrants in the early 1900's and earlier, and the current illegal alien Hispanics (and others, but Hispanic being the largest group) made their way into the country.

Those Irish immigrants, as well as other groups who emigrated to the US in the early 1900's were screened through Ellis Island, any that appeared to be suffering from any illness, or were thought to be unsuitable by the immigration authorities there were sent back immediately to their country. Those that stayed went through the process and were admitted to the country legally. There were no "immigration services"- no special housing, no welfare, food stamps, free medical care, no "ESOL" classes for immigrant children whose english skills were poor or nonexistent. There was no free ride for immigrants to the US in those days as there are for illegal aliens who sneak into the US and breaks its laws these days.

And yes, Irish immigrants were looked down on in those times, as were Jews, and I'd imagine other ethnic groups as well. There are many stories about the signs reading "no Irish need apply" for available jobs, not the preferential hiring of immigrants ( including illegal aliens) that we see these days.....
