One thing that's completely obvious from this thread - even when they're actively trying to appeal to black voters, republicans simply rush back to their old, tired stereotypes.

How has Obama helped black people? I am all for improving there education which improves their job prospects. A working black person is a whole lot better than having them unemployed. Educated black people are less likely to turn to crime, get pregnant at 15, or get girls pregnant at 15. Why because they don't want to screw up their future. Give them a future and they will respond. That said stop making excuses for the ones who screw up. Blame mainstream media. During Katrina they didn't interview the black people bust their butts to do the right thing. Instead we saw footage of looting and interviews with people saying they were taking what was owed them. NO working black people behave this way, and the majority of black people are hard working, same as anyone else.
What is the criminal record breakdown by race? The data I have viewed shows that Blacks by percentage of the population are much higher than White which is much higher than Asian. It's hard to get a good job if you have a criminal record. I am not trying to single out any race or indicate that any race is more likely to commit crimes, but the fact is that Blacks and Hispanics make up the majority of people with criminal records. The majority of hispanics arrested aren't even citizens...
There is something else to consider. Even with the breakdown by criminal record, another thing to look at is this: What percentage of the unemployed(by race) have criminal records? What percentage of unemployed Blacks have criminal records? What percentage of unemployed Whites have criminal records?
It's not really "news." Black unemployment has always been much higher than White unemployment.
Blacks are still trying to economically recover from over 300 years of oppression by whites, in which they were forced to work for free. They're then still trying to recover from another 100 years of institutional segregation by whites simply because whites didn't want blacks to work for them or along with them (as whites felt blacks were "lesser than").
There have been strides made, and obviously some personal responsibility should be taken now that the playing field has been leveled, but you can't ignore the impact of blacks not having a pot to **** in for so long has had on their economic achievement relative to whites.

Darn good points, but the ignorant vicious cycle shall live on, when that is all you know. And that is quite sad.
I never have been able to handle anyone who plays the victim, get up, pat yourself on the back, and take control of your own life. Or those who blame others, for anything, useless people.
No one cares about Obama's color believe that, I have black friends, that hate the job he is doing, friends in Murrieta, who jus spend the most hellish week of their life, with illegal invaders bused into their beautiful town. This couple is Democrat no more, have had it with this situation, that is going no where. Obama should have not promised in 0/9 and 0/10 on my tapes of him,, that he would see to it that we would have secure borders, and safe border towns, Really. These are just the tip of the iceberg, not his white half or his black half, because that is what he is best of both worlds, and the worse.

The Professor, Economist & Political Commentator Dr. Walter Williams says that until 1960, Blacks were employed at the same or higher rates than Whites, not lower. I don't know where he gets this data, but he's fairly high profile & has been making this claim publicly for years with no one ever challenging him on it so I presume he's right. Then we implemented the Minimum Wage to protect White, Northern, Union members from being undercut by Blacks & Asians who were willing to work for lower wages. We know historically the Minimum Wage is a tool used by racists to keep minorities out of the work force (South Africa under Apartheid is another prime example). Watch what happens to to Black unemployment numbers when we raise the Minimum Wage again. Why stop at $10 an hour though, make it $15 or even $20, that should REALLY help low skilled Black workers.
