Correlation does not equal causation. One could likely just as easily show that the drop in crime was associated by the rise in cupcake shops.
As for the Crime Prevention Center. Well, a quick read on their own website shows there's nothing nonpartisan, much less academic aboiut the organization. Speaking of organization, it doesn't seem to be much more than one guy, who just happens to also be a Fox News columnist. Convenient.
So let me get this straight. Your saying lets start late 90s, after the homicide rate has been declining for multiple years, and measure the drop. The problem with that. . .is that the crime rate has been dropping since the early 90s before the increase concealed carry. The only thing this data does is prove that concealed carry has no real impact on the downward trend of violent crime/homicide. . .
Now if you did what Levitt did and showed crime by state and correlation by state. . .instead of this total number bullcrap you may have an argument (Levitt showed that states that introduced ability to Abort unwanted children prior to Roe versus wade benefited from reduce crime earlier)

Incidentally, the same phenomenon of crime falling has happened in most first world countries without the increase in CCP.
