I have a few things to say about this.

1) This is hardly the first time Obama has criticized something Bush did, then end up doing that exact thing or something similar. This shouldn't be a surprise. Each presidential candidates makes it their goal to make others look bad.

2) Katrina and the border are not the same thing. The border is not a natural disaster. There really isn't a lot to see there. Visiting one point on the border is hardly going to change any problems related to immigration. Even if he got in a jeep, and drove along the entire 1954 mile long stretch of land that is the US/Mexican border, what would that have accomplished?

3) Since I defended what Obama did, I'll defend what Bush did. Again, him actually going to New Orleans to stand in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina would hardly do anything. Unless Bush had some magical powers, it doesn't matter if he steps in it or flies over it. Even a Google search of it wouldn't change much.

Going to the actual geographic location of a problem does not necessarily solve the problem. As president, the actions done in office to resolve the problem are what matter. This goes for Bush and Obama; and any other president who has been elected and who will be elected.

Obama blasted this as the mark of a poor leader and a failed president.

Flash forward to today. Obama refuses to see the border and "new arrivals" himself as it would slow down and gum up the works. He doesn't need this photo op.

Obreezey is Bush's 3rd and 4th terms as president on so many levels. I wish we could have Candidate Obama for president, instead of President Obama...
Obama has no integrity or an ability to tell the truth

You are correct, the net result is nothing - which was also the case with Katrina.
Katrina began a few week earlier, if it started under Reagan I would be willing to give GWB a pass.

Yes illegal immigration is worse right now but it has existed for decades under many presidents, we didn't just arrive at this point because of current policy changes.

It's odd that you think it's so minor and yet Brownie resigned and there were some rather permanent changes to how FEMA operates because of it.
dont forget though that it was kathleen blanco and ray nagin that were blocking federal response to the katrina disaster. the feds begged blanco to declare a state of emergency, so that federal aid could start flowing into the area, but she refused to do that for three days as i recall. ray nagin refused to order an evacuation a week before katrina hit, which would have allowed the use of something like 250 school buses to help evacuate nola residents. instead they got flooded because they were still in their parking lots.

say what you will about bush, but at least he recognized that his presence early in the effort would have been a hindrance to rescue efforts. however bush DID visit nola later after things had calmed down, and his presence would not hinder anything.

so you in fact might want to read up a little about katrina, and the events leading up to and directly after the storm hit.

Since 1800 Americans didn't die at the border today, your comparison between the two is ignorant at best.

Yes it is apples to oranges. There is good reason to do a fly over in a disaster situation but no reason not to visit the border during a crisis. Bush was right to not land and thwart the recovery effort with his presence. What was obummer preventing by not going to the border and witnessing first hand what is happening? He didn't even do the equivalent of a fly over.
