The two Senators have been working on legislation to fix the unequal treatment of blacks in the courts when it comes to Drug possession. You know how the story goes, a black man is busted with crack and is sentenced to 20 years but a white man is busted with powder cocaine and gets seven. I think there is something really wrong about that picture and it is refreshing to see 2 Senators from opposing parties working to fix it.

Another area they are working on is expunging records of non violent offenders which would be a plus for the black community. You know how this story goes, Cooley High{ street name} gets busted on 5th ave/Arlington selling crack does 10 years and is on parole. He has some experience and skill but employers see his criminal record and thus he stays unemployed. And then Cooley High is back on the streets slinging crack.

We have some in the forum that claim Paul is a racist I would ask them to listen to this interview with Booker/Paul it could change your mind.

The media will control the message.... Not you and certainly not Rand Paul. Ask his dad, Ron.

I hope something good comes out of this, we are making too people into criminals for doing things that shouldn't be more than a misdemeanor.

Not crazy about his politics but Booker came across well. Right off the bat he said he wanted to work with Rand Paul on a few issues.

Is this just a generalized statement from you or is this about something specific that has to do with this thread?

Some of the liberals claim the Tea Party as well as Rand Paul (as well as republicans) are racist.
Yet again it takes a Paul to tackle drug policies that unfairly penalize minorities. For all the dems talk I cannot recall a big name dem tackling the racist war on drugs like the Pauls have.

Depends, did they say or do racist things? Sometimes people can say or do something that is racist and not be a racist, but if racism is a common trend for them, then they probably are a racist.

Yea, but Rand Paul is for shrinking the government back to their limited powers.

That in itself will get you labeled a racist.
