Poll: Millennials

The most libertarian generation?

Obviously they still lean left---but they are young.

Among other things, what this poll shows is that Republicans will *soon* need to make drastic changes in their party's platform if they want to attract millennial votes.

Rs seem to believe that conservative economics and conservative social values are one and the same. Their focussed attack on liberal social/cultural values is costing them big-time.

So, millennials support a solid safety net and want an efficient government that exists to help the people but general keeps its nose out of private affairs.

That does not bode well for the Republican party as a whole, which doesn't support any of those things. It does look good for the tiny minority of Republicans who aren't controlling sociopaths.

Enough of them vote to have been a deciding factor in Obama's wins.

Yes, Rs can win more millennial voters. They'll have to lay off their fundamentalist religiosity in order to do it though.

No they don't. Millennials reflexively lean to the left, partly because of their youth and partly because of late night comedians like Stewart and Colbert. Just wait till they get real jobs and real responsibilities...they'll begin to understand just how badly Obama and the Democrats screwed them. IMO the millennials will end up the most conservative generation ever.

Doesn't bode well for Democrats, either.

I'm not sure how anyone could read that article and not come to the conclusion that both parties are going to have to make changes to attract this vote.

You're wrong.

I'm one of those millennials. I have a "real job" and "real responsibilities." I pay more in taxes than many people earn.

I also have the ability to look at "real facts" and do "real math." And those two things mean that when a Republican comes out and tells me he's going to solve all our woes with tax cuts and more defense spending, I don't mindlessly swallow the exact same nonsense that's been failing and bankrupting this country for decades.
