This coverage is for myself only. I have no dependents or spouse.
Please keep in mind that last year (before ACA) my deductible was $5,000; my premium was around $100 per month.
I believe the key to this is my employer paying a significant amount of the yearly premium. Whereas I pay around $2,400 per year, my employer pays $5,100 per year for my insurance.

Instead, this is employer purchased insurance, whose costs are actually hidden from you.
Funny how every argument a liberal makes is a lie.
if they are not in a grandfathered plan then all plans are "Obamacare plans" even the private ones because of the HHS mandates.
Premiums went up in private plans due to those mandates.
My company sent us a letter because there are retired, non retired and newly hired and the company has grandfathered pension plans, 401K plans and health insurance plans so we get letters each year about all of them.
New hires got it the worst of all of us. They have no pension, 401K with no more employer match and high health insurance premiums compared to the other groups of workers/retirees.
Which is why I said 'too bad you work for a sucky employer'!
The employer costs are not hidden. You didn't even take the time to see what I posted.
I am not making any 'argument'.
What I posted is not a lie; I copied it right from the company website, along with my personal premium costs.
What ARE you talking about?!?!?!??!? Put the beer down, it's not the weekend yet! haha
I understand where you are coming from.
You see I had and still have an employer plan.
Costs are not hidden in mine either.
These posters probably never had employer plans and only go by what they read.
They are misinformed to say the least but think they know the "facts".
I have had UnitedHealthCare and now have Aetna like you.
I have a high deductible and low premium. My premium is low enough that the employer pays it. All I have is my co-pay and $5K out of pocket deductible. If I were to switch to a higher premium/lower deductible then I would also have to pay a monthly premium as my employer only pays a flat $$$ towards our premiums.
No, it did not. Pre-ACA, few plans had more than 5000 deductibles.
It RAISED deductibles AND increased the premiums.
No it did not. The ACA capped the out of pocket expense to $6350 and $12,700 for an individual and family, respectively. Premiums did rise and that is partly due to getting rid of the preexisting condition clause.
Here's a plan that is no longer offered because it is not ACA compliant. The deductible is $10K + 20% coinsurance (up to $3K), and doesn't cover Rx or Dr visits. So, IF you had this plan and needed to go to a hospital for something serious you would pay $13K + Rx + followup visits out of pocket. Under the ACA your max out of pocket is $6350.
Should I drop my excellent employer-supplied insurance and try to get it myself?
Of course.

Why would I do that?
To not let other people be in control of your decisions.

Just so I can 'choose it myself'?
Of course.
Quote:
My employer offered three different plans; I chose mine all by MYSELF!
Three options. Ohh, wow, almost like a magician's choice, huh?

And all this time I thought conservatives were so concerned about money!
Where did I mention money?
