A Pennsylvania woman with a concealed carry permit was arrested in New Jersey and faces jail time. Many states have gun permit reciprocity but not New Jersey.

The single mother of two was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and armor-penetrating bullets. She wasn’t aware it was against the law to drive through New Jersey with her .380 Bersa Thunder loaded with hollow-point bullets. Pennsylvania concealed carry permits are honored in 30 other states, but that doesn’t include New Jersey.

"People believe that your gun license should be treated like your driver’s license. Right now there’s a national law being proposed that would mandate that all states recognize other states licenses,”

But what about state rights?

Hollow point ammunition isn't "armor-penetrating" in the least bit. It is designed to expand on contact to create a larger would channel and not penetrate as deep so there is less chance of it exiting the other side.

Sad, and very ironic. NJ has no reciprocity for gun permits from other states. However, Newark, which is New Jersey's largest city, is one of the most violent cities of its size in the USA, and has been for a long time.

States rights. States like New Jersey has the right to have all the extreme gun laws they want and sane people have the right to stay out of hell holes like that.

To be fair, New Jersey had a lower murder rate in 2012 than Pennsylvania, by almost 20%. Their state; their laws.

NJ laws constrain the people least likely to commit a crime and totally ignore the people most likely to commit a series of violent crimes. It is easier to enfore law against law abiding citizens who have no lesser crimes they can use to plead down the charges. Prosecutors can earn public relation points for a future run at a political career.

Meanwhile the centers of criminal excellence in NJ are characterized by a proliferation of gangs selling drugs, the gun violence downstream of those sales. The drug users are complicit but ignored as enablers and financial supporters of gangs increased violence.

Chris Christie dumped one activist judge for ardor in punishing honest citizens and creating an atmosphere of fear among legal gun and prospective gun owners.

I feel sorry for this woman, but anyone with a concealed carry permit knows or at least should know where they can and cannot carry. There are a number of states that I don't do business in for that very reason. I don't need them to stay busy and I don't need the hassle.

She should have checked the laws of NJ. That's all. While in another state, you follow the laws and regulations of that state, period

she should be covered under article four section one of the constitution;

Quote:
Section 1.

Full faith and credit shall be given in each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings of every other state. And the Congress may by general laws prescribe the manner in which such acts, records, and proceedings shall be proved, and the effect thereof.
since drivers licenses are universally accepted, CCW permits should also be universally accepted, under the full faith and credit clause.

I call bologna on this one.

I think she probably knew, but whether she knew or not has no bearing. It means nothing, because the simple fact is, as a lawful concealed carrier, it is her duty and responsibility to know where she can and can not carry her firearm. She is required by law to know. If she didn't know, then that is on her.

I think a lot of people would rather carry somewhere they aren't supposed to and risk getting caught, then risk being without their firearm in the event they need it. That is an impulse I understand, and I wouldn't blame anyone for making that decision, but with that decision you are rolling the dice. If you take that chance and get caught, well, oh well. That's the chance you take.

Aside from that though, prosecutors make deals with 2 and 3 time losers every day in this country. The fact that they have chosen an otherwise law abiding citizen to throw the book at and make an example of is quite telling as to just how deep the anti-gun vein runs in some parts of this country. They literally despise those of us who believe in and support gun rights, and they will not miss the slightest opportunity to send a message to the rest of us. They will effectively be ruining this womens life, just to show that they can. { 3 years in prison, which is what this women faces, tends to have a profoundly negative impact on someones life }
