Incorrect. Faith is a belief held despite a lack of evidence. What you're talking about is a belief brought about because of the propensity of the evidence.
Anyone else who knows their ass from their elbow would say the same thing, I just got here first. Sorry if my knowing the difference between a belief based on faith and one based on evidence makes you whine and cry about me.
Science has nothing to do with destroying religion, that is just what some religious leaders tell you. The main purpose of science is to understand the world around us and even the universe itself based on interpretation of observable phenomena. Nothing more to it than that.
Science does often get co-opted into political arguments and campaigns, as does religion. Neither belongs there, and it is always done for self serving ends.

Decades ago, paleontologists found out that all birds today are descendents of the dinosaurs. This isn't new knowledge.
Archaeologists don't study dinosaurs.
But they probably have known for some time that birds are closely related cousins of the dinos.
