I saw the movie "The Condemned" last night and I have to admit it would be cheaper and far more of a burden on the tax payers if we took the worst of the worst put them on a island[filled cameras and heavily camouflaged camera teams] and let them fight it out to the end, were the winning teams or sole surviving inmate would be given amnesty $5,000,000 and set free.

What is your take?

The "games" were used to placate the citizenry who were being over taxed. It was basically the Roman equivalent to professional sports, as far as keeping people preoccupied. What professional sports doesn't cover beer and wine makes up for.

I wouldn't mind seeing inmates playing full contact football with no pads or helmets. Now that would be entertaining.

Otherwise... Welcome to Costco!

If you want my attention and ticket revenue, lions and tigers must be involved in some way. Maybe the prisoners have to take io wild animals of increasing danger.

It brings to mind something I saw in 1971 when I lived with my parents in Ibadan Nigeria. Public mass executions by the Nigerian Army of common criminals by firing squad conducted at the cities Football (Soccor) stadium. They marched them in seven at a time, tied them to posts and fired a volley . This went on for at least 3 hours. In a nice touch they used other criminals not convicted of capital offenses to drag the bodies away and tidy up the site for next round. All told they executed over 150 . The crowd in the stands loved it as well. The Western State Governor ordered the broadcasting it on Western Nigeria Television as a special broadcast.
