The records go back to only 1978, but it is strange the ice keeps growing despite of claims of warning temperatures.

Antarctic sea ice hit 35-year record high Saturday

Antarctic sea ice has grown to a record large extent for a second straight year, baffling scientists seeking to understand why this ice is expanding rather than shrinking in a warming world.

On Saturday, the ice extent reached 19.51 million square kilometers, according to data posted on the National Snow and Ice Data Center Web site. That number bested record high levels set earlier this month and in 2012 (of 19.48 million square kilometers). Records date back to October 1978.

Ah, the old 'sea ice' versus 'land ice' topic.

Is Antarctica losing or gaining ice?

It will go down/up/down/up............so she goes. Let earth do her thing I say. Your 1978 number is the problem. That is a blip in earth's history. Let her roll and humans need to just adapt along the way like every other species.

Not ONE mmgw nut has ever explained why the mile thick glaciers which covered most of Europe and North America 12,000 years ago melted and receded.

It could have been all the brontosaurus burgers that the Flintstones and Rubbles were grilling?

I don't mind warm, but the alarmists claim warm weather will make ice melt, which rises sea levels. That can't happen since the ice is NOT melting.
