The poor will avoid going in for treatment until they have spread the virus. It would seem prudent to avoid Dallas, at least. But realistically, it won't stop there.

Dallas?

He got to Dallas days after being in the USA.
The news here just said he was in Atalanta with family for a few days before heading to Dallas to see more family.

More like the bridge is out and more people driving off the cliff and down the river.

If traffic accidents were infectious diseases with mortality rates over 50% then your analogy would be correct.

That someone from the very epicenter of the epidemic was allowed into the country was absurdly stupid.

I think the CDC guy was deliberately vague. How is patient confidentiality an issue to talk about things not directly related to his illness? Not a single reporter asked how he got to the hospital (both times, I might add). Did family drive him? Was he put in a cab? Did he take public transportation? He was obviously showing symptoms both times or he wouldn't have gone to the hospital. Why did the hospital release him the first time? If he was sick enough to show up at the hospital, shouldn't they have asked the same questions that they asked the second time he showed up?

Since this is the political forum, if this patient has infected anyone else, is homeland security and/or the Obama administration going to take a hit for not shutting down travel from the Ebola countries in Africa? Also, do you believe your governor should have a say-so as to whether an Ebola patient is treated at your state's hospital or transported to Emory?

I must have missed that. It was my understanding that he flew to Dallas from Liberia.

It appears the only commercial international carrier flying to/from Monrovia, Liberia is Royal Air Maroc via Casablanca ( North Africa) to JFK or Canada.

Some of the flight plans show an incremental stop in Freetown, Sierra Leone, as in :

Monrovia, Liberia to
Free Town, Sierra Leone to
Casablanca, Morocco to
JFK or Canada to
Dallas

Blame Ebola on the warmers.
The virus could also evolve to adapt to colder or dry environments, but aside from that, the northeast US can get quite hot and humid during the summers.
