Coincidentally, inequality has decreased in Russia, but has increased in ours. There isn't much that can really be done though. We are one of the few countries that import people from poverty level countries without requiring them to have some level of skill or education. When technology eliminates a job the companies employing that tech & the developer will benefit; the people displaced will have to fight for the scraps.

Oh yeah, while the USA is capitalistic, the USA is also an oligarchy, so having most of the wealth in the hands of a few is perfectly natural.

The people who whine and complain the most about income inequality are also the ones most supportive of illegal immigration...

Of course it's greater and it will be even greater under the next president, and the next one, and the next one.

Protectionism isn't the answer, as it only serves to increase costs. Reducing the non-wage and non-private benefit costs of American labor is the way to go.

Taxes and such for hiring employees, mandatory Obamacare coverage, unions, draconian labor laws, etc.

While FICA taxes, unemployment taxes, Obamacare, and the like could be considered benefits, I was referring to private benefits/those benefits that employers use to compete (which, yes, does include health insurance - so I phrased that somewhat incorrectly).
