Blowhards are blowhards, policy wouldn't change that but going to war over mere talk would certainly top the list of all the stupid, inane, asinine reasons we've gone to war with various factions in the past.

We have not fought an imperial war by the definition of imperialism .

Call it what you will, but it does not change the fact that they were not defensive wars for our country, but wars for Big Global Governance with the MIC and associated Corporations and Banks the major benefactors.

The top .5% have benefited immensely from these policies and continue to want the the bottom 99% to pay for it.

My point is we wouldnt need to go to war because saber rattling would decrease. Of course we wouldnt go to war in the example given. Back door talk between usa and russia would have stopped any actions. Theres a difference between what russia said trying to save face vs what isis says and means. They are not a country and their actions prove they will do what they say if given the chance.

Russia had the ability but wasnt planning on using it. Isis would use it if given the chance. Russia backed down because jfk was willing to attack. And russia knew it. Jfk called their bluff. Who thinks obama will do anything? Now after this bombing of isis maybe. That was a good move by him. Its not enough. Take them out.

The simple answer is, because it benefits them. Or at least, because it benefits those in power.

The world runs on self-interest. Only a tiny few can resist the temptation of wealth and power. And none of those people hold elected office.

The virtue of a nation is reflective of the virtue of the people. And this nation by and large lacks virtue. Which is only getting worse by the day.

What do you expect?

I just don't believe more saber rattling is the cure for saber rattling.

Russia had gone far beyond talk, I don't see the relevance to your 'we will destroy you for voice threats' statement.

I wonder how some alleviate their conscience on this matter.

They want a small government to do as they please here but want a Big Global Government backed by the tools of the military to do as they please outside our country, in other peoples countries.

The constitution seems to be quoted when it comes to objections on helping our our fellow citizens and is ignored when it comes to not minding our own business and sticking to purely defensive measures.

There is a name for these types. NeoCon Global Fascists
A lot of Democrats like Obama and his supporters are NeoCon Global Facists.

Obama:

-More drones.
-More foreign drone bases.
-Drones bombing more countries.
-Special Forces engaged in more countries.
-More non-war zone military bases.
-Continued rendition.
-Escalated Afghanistan War dramatically.
St. Pete for Peace - Obama fact sheet

etc...

Quite the dichotomy of the Anti-Bush. Mr. Hope and Change is a fraud and his supporters don't care as long as the thrills keep shooting up the legs.

A definition I find of imperialism is "a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force."

I'd say many of our actions fit that to a 'T'.

We're under lots of thumbs right now!

We're under the thumbs of Western Europe, East Asia, and the Middle East. Western Europe and East Asia because we've stupidly committed ourselves to defending wealthy nations while they spend their largesse domestically, and the Middle East because they jerk our chain at will.

However, Obama - Mr. Hope and Change - has actually increased military bases abroad. He has also increased the amount of countries that we bomb against the countries' will with drones. He has also doubled the amount of countries that special forces have been active in compared to under Bush.

So this should be a non-issue with the mainstream until a Republican wins.

St. Pete for Peace - Obama fact sheet
Left/right dichotomy is dumb in this conversation. It's irrelevant. And Repubs aren't any better.

I am not!

Our foriegn policy needs to change!

The policy should be simple

If you commit genocide we will come in and stop it and detroy those who commit it.

If you threaten american lives even by voice threats we will come in and destroy you.

If that was our foriegn policy we would have less issues with needing to fight. After the first idiot challeged our policy and got the wraph of the usa, others would fall in line.

We dont need to be the worlds police force.

We need to be the worlds alpha male! The big dog that everone knows not to mess with or to cross.
Ummm, no. We don't need to be the world's alpha male. That's our problem right now.

We simply need to lead by example. Walk softly...right?

Be sagacious with the big stick.

What do you call overthrowing governments, installing and propping up puppet regimes and launching preemptive wars?

Friendly gestures?

Don't look at America the way a 4 year old looks at his mommy.
