We want the middle east to have democracy and the freedom to vote......as long as they vote for who we approve of.

"We Americans are so generous and giving we are willing to lay down the neighbors sons and daughters lives ( and the lives of a few innocents caught in the crossfire but that's war) in order to give you freedom to vote. But oh wait that freedom didn't mean you were suppose to vote in the muslim brotherhood. Oh well guess we gotta bomb you some more until you get it right..."

It's all good, just remember to say "thank you for my freedom".

When you hear news bits about ISIS forcing Christians and other minorities out of their homes and telling them to convert to their radical Islamic beliefs or die, and massacring women and children just because they have a different religious belief, I would not call those individuals "PEOPLE", and calling them "Animals" would be an insult to the animal kingdom, they are nothing but cowards full of hatred and will stop at nothing to spread their ideology of evil. Those are not the kind of "people" you can negotiate with, and the only thing they know is hostility, and the use of force is the only to negotiate with them.
ISIS won't be "defeated" until the people of the ME get over their love of murder and slaughter and turn on these animals. Instead, a good portion of Iraq is supporting them. I see no reason whatsoever to risk another American life trying to help them. It's past time for them to stand up and do something for themselves. We have our own issues to deal with.

Here's a vivid statement of why we need to defeat ISIS (and the rest of these barbarians)...

ISIS beheading U.S. journalist James Foley, posts video - CNN.com

The video has now been authenticated.

And they are threatening to kill others.

Would anyone like to see them start doing that here? They intend to.

I usually read a whole thread before yapping, but I'll go right to the end.

What are the suggestions for defeating IS. How do you defeat a 'movement' ? Realistic suggestions. The U.S. isn't about to nuke anyone. Indiscriminate bombing, with thousands of non-combat deaths ? Won't happen. Militarily occupy vast area of Iraq and Syria ? Nope. Ship massive weapons supplies to the Kurds and other opposition ? imo, that's a roundabout way of resupplying IS.

If the prez election was this Nov., what would you like to hear from a candidate about defeating IS ?

Found this excerpt in a piece in the New Statesman that describes the situation perfectly perfectly:

The piece basically explains why it's futile for us to get on the ground there.

IMO. from what I have read in many of your posts, you are an isolationist.

We tried that once and it didn't work out to well.

You can ignore it all you want but, toady the world is much "smaller' then it ever was.

We live in a global economy, so what happens in other parts of the worlds DOES affect us and every one else.

We tried that once?

When? I'm not an isolationist per se...i'm a non interventionist.

And this isn't an economic argument. The only commodity that the Arab world has that's worth having is the oil, and they'll sell it to us regardless.

That is, unless you're talking about losing those hummus and falafel imports.
