The new conservative lie about Iraq is that it was going great until President Obama prematurely pulled the troops out, and how they predicted that would be bad.

The fact is that prediction was made before we had the war by people like President Obama who said this war is going to be a long quagmire that would require US military intervention for a very long time.

So how do conservatives still believe they were right about Iraq?

conservatives live in bizarro world.
The fact is both Obama and bide declared Iraq stable and a great accomplishment of their administration .
I guess it was bushes fault now . Declare they are stable take the credit , blame bush when they were wrong , just like the economy never take responsibility that their actions effected the outcome

Iraq was going to trade in non dollars threatening our status. We had to put a stop to that. If it happens again we will fund a coup and install a puppet government. Gaddafi was trying to do the same thing and look where he is. The message is clear, if you threaten the dollar we will kill you.

What don't you understand about the petrodollar?

Hillary's running away, Democrats running, now even Obama is running away from Obama. There is something mentally wrong with someone who refuses to take blame for anything.

Really for any conservative who supported this disastrous war, which was correctly predicted by many, many, many, many Americans including President Obama, would turn out to be an epic quagmire and failure that would ensnare the US government into a many decades long commitment into occupying Iraq, that this war would strengthen Iran, and destabilize parts of the Middle East, please be quiet.

You'd think this epic failure, the fact that conservatives were so wrong would cause conservative's to shut up about Iraq.

Nope, instead they engaging in a massive delusional campaign in which the failure of Iraq isn't because of their insane cheer leading us into this war, but President Obama's fault.

See, the new conservative lie is that all was well in Iraq before President Obama took over.

Truly conservatives are fundamentally dishonest people.

Iraq has been a disaster since the beginning. Now 12 years later it's President Obama's fault that you uninformed people cheer leaded us into to this quagmire?
It was not just "conservatives" who approved of Bush using military force in Iraq, it was the US senate complete with 98% of all democrats in the senate voting to authorize it.

When Obama became president Iraq just started a final, yet fragile stage of development. Iraq finally had an democratically elected representative government, the terrorists had been largely subdued, their army was finally being created and trained. Even Chicago had more violence at the time than Baghdad. Things were coming along so well that Obama was regularly bragging about it, and taking credit claiming "al Qaeda is back on it's heels," and was so supremely confident he rushed a pull out all US troops ahead of schedule.

The reason Iraq is this "quagmire" and n a state of utter chaos today, is because Obama took a progressively improving Iraq and prematurely kicked it to the curb, so he could brag about keeping his campaign promise and have a neat little reelection talking point.

He was in charge and took credit(?) for the move. Now he claims it to be someone else's decision? And you claim this to be the truth?

Can everyone say blind partisanship among Obamas devotees?

What the hell is there that Obama can point to as a foreign policy achievement at this point?

Are conservatives that delusional?

The war in Iraq was started march of 2003. GWBush was President until January 2009.

GWBush had 5 years and 10months as President to end this war and failed.

Why did he fail?

The actual invasion war lasted like one month. It was over very quickly.

What was the GWBush administration doing for the next 5yrs?

They were trying and failing to stop a civil war. They were trying and failing to create a functioning Iraqi government that could hold the fractured nation together.

They were trying and failing to create an Iraqi military that could hold the fractured nation together.

The Iraqi people didn't want us there anymore, we had destroyed their nation and made it a magnet for extremist terrorist organizations, combined with the fact that this civil war has been there from the beginning.

This is why Iraq failed. It has nothing to do with President Obama. Spending another 10yrs there fighting won't fix what conservative policy broke and got wrong about Iraq.

Iraq was a failure from the start and that's why GWBush who had every motivation to end this war quickly and withdraw troops failed.

Blaming President Obama is an irrational response to what should be being humble and recognizing that conservatives led us into this epic disaster.

I find this thread hilarious. First, Obama supporters hail him as a great leader for getting us out of Iraq, while he simply followed the plan in place under GWB. Now that it's blowing up, he passes the blame on to GWB. Sc*ew Iraq-their country and not our problem. If the Iraqis want to make something of their country it's up to them.

But at least one POTUS continually takes credit for any positive and passes the blame when anything negative happens. This is a recurring behavior for this POTUS.

He laid sanctions on Nigeria barring all military assistance because they passed a law against homosexual acts. Those sanctions prevented us from assisting in any meaningful way in freeing the Boko Harum kidnaped girls which are still missing and now forgotten by the US. Time for Michelle to make a new sign.
His effort to humiliate Putin at Sochi with his hand picked gay delegation contributed to re-starting the cold war. We will all pay for that incredible foolishness.
