So now lies are "metaphors".
We all speak in literal and metaphor from time to time. Closing gitmo was literal. Obama is not emperor of the universe. There were unforeseen complications to closing gitmo right away. Every military advisor agreed that it took a lot longer time to close gitmo.

Regarding the stimulus, again Obama is not emperor of the universe. While not perfect, it kept a great number of people employed for two years.

Thou shalt not bear false witness. If you guys really have legit reasons not to like Obama, then use your legit reasons. Hint, I'm no fan of Obama. But every false witness you bear like taking metaphor for literal only makes you look like a foo.

Then perhaps he shouldn't have made the promise until he knew he could keep it. I mean come on. This isn't like Dominos promising to get a pizza delivered within 30 minutes. When you're making promises as the future President of United States, shouldn't you have the integrity and responsibility to ensure you'll be able to keep those promises?

"Not perfect" is an understatement. According to the White House's own numbers from the President's Council of Economic Advisors the stimulus cost $278,000 per job. So we could have sent each one of those people a tax free check for a quarter of a million dollars and ended up spending less than we did. That is a monumental level of fail. Plus, the cost of the stimulus went straight to the national debt, which means we will be paying interest on that for decades to come.

That's a little bit more than just a "oops, wasn't perfect but at least it helped a few people" level of failure. How many generations of as yet unborn citizens do you think will still be making payments out of their tax dollars to cover the cost of that "not perfect" stimulus plan?

Telling the American people you want to add nearly a trillion dollars to their debt that their children will be paying off for years to come to pay for "shovel ready" jobs that never materialize is absolutely a legit reason to not like Obama.

And all that really need be done is to simply say "Well, I don't remember", keeps the self-Righteous happy every time.

Then start a thread about that. Let me remind you that this thread is about interpreting a metaphor as literal.

Do you guys always go up to coaches and call them liars after they told the media their players gave it 110%?

Why won't you people ever admit you bear false witness?

All Presidents take vacation. They are allowed and we have to pay for it.

Deal with it.
So it's ok to lie, unaccountability is cool to you then.

Do you call basketball players liars when they say they give it 110%? Was Jesus a liar for speaking in parables?

Sports are a waste of time, and a mere distraction from what is really going on.

You got that right. They give GWB the thumbs up for taking more vacations than any other president in history, even during the Katrina crisis! Yet they childishly bash Obama for going to Camp David even though he took his work with him.

In contrast, President George W. Bush and his administration seemed slow off the mark in their response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The powerful storm hit the Gulf Coast and New Orleans while Bush was on vacation at his Texas ranch, and his aides initially didn't keep him fully informed about the devastation and misery Katrina was causing.

No wonder the younger generation is distancing themselves from those childish right wingers.
