^ You can pretend it's not true, but again as mentioned above, who were the main oppressors of these groups in history? What group is largely against gay rights? Hint: it's not progressives.

If not for progressives, your kids would still be working in coal mines.

I think the biggest differences between the 2 groups are merely different types of cognitive distortions in the way we define freedoms.

Conservatives are afraid of losing some abstract concept of "freedoms" (and if we had them, we would probably not have the FDA, CDC, EPA, etc.) Besides gun control of course which is very concrete.

And progressives are largely fighting for freedoms from social and financial oppression. Looking to make "progress" in that area and not to "conserve" the status quo.

Put another way - both literally and figuratively - one group believes in evolution and one does not.

One Party used to stand for careful, well considered "evolution" as opposed to being blown about as if by the wind.

Now it's just conservatives.
That means the above, not no change in the status quo always in all areas, just calculated and considered carefully before taking a leap of major change.

The statement was in perspective of what each side seems to look at things and why they dont get each others ideas. The two sides see things differently. When a liberal says we are or some politican is conservative or far right they are comparing to world liberal comparisons.
You were already deep enough in a hole, now you want to keep on digging?

Conservatives are church people who do not shake the boat of society. Liberals are church people who carry out the functions of non-Church people. It is an Conservatist who fought for privacy is it not? While an liberal is willing to make arrest and lock people up. But again it is the liberal law system that has prevented people from being locked up.

Bottom-line. America is screwed up because all the crap laws being made right now that violates peoples rights

Massachusetts didn't vote for gay marriage; rather its 3-person Supreme Judicial Court imposed it on a resistant progressive population. Notoriously liberal South Boston St. Patty's organizers perpetually resisted the inclusion of openly gay parade participants.

Progressive California resisted Proposition 8.

Coal miners made great livings before progressives sought to shut down clean, unimposing, cheap energy. Leftists only think to seek government work.

Progressives are notoriously authoritarian; a hundred years of Marxist history illustrates that. They knowingly demand funding of a Big Government that they're fully aware builds police state and surveillance state with the public's money. And they know that Big Governments are the only constructs large enough to allocate that crony capital.

Progressives hate the 1st Amendment: Menino, Emanuel, Cuomo.... Hobby Lobby, Chick-fil-A, Mozilla know this all too well. They hate the 2nd. Bostonians proved after the Marathon that progressives hate the 4th. The New York Times is so terrified of the 10th that it refused even to acknowledge the mere presence of 1000 people converging on Nevada rangeland in support of Cliven Bundy--until a full 6 days had passed after a militarized BLM retreated from the area and released animals it hadn't destroyed. (And yet again, NYT is so afraid of the 10th that you'll never read in its pages about Texas's plans to remit its gold back into its borders.)

Comments sections like NYT, Salon.com, The Guardian, also show that progressive leftists famously censor information like they always did behind the Iron Curtain, in Cuba, in China, in the DPRK.
