Damn right I wouldn't.

I do have a problem with police armed to the teeth busting down a door because of a noise complaint or pulling over cars at a random checkpoint. They don't even do that here in China. SWAT teams are supposed to be reserved for those situations where you are going after a terrorist cell, a hostage taker, etc. These are RARE situations. when you start giving every small town a SWAT team, then every small town starts using their SWAT teams fo unnecessary things. Do you like the thought of a dozen guys in black BDU's and full combat gear with MP40's rolling up in an APC to tell you your music's too loud? How comfortable are you pulling up to a random police checkpoint on the highway home and finding it equipped like it's on the road to Tikrit?

This is not a police state. The idea that our local police have become paramilitary forces is appalling. From a legislation stand point-- What can and should be done?

I think this is something most conservatives and liberals can agree on.
Reducing crime would be the way to go. Find a way to get more young people a college degree or go to vocational school.

The more people you have working a decent job the less people you have committing crimes. The the police could chill out.

There are now on average 100-115 SWAT raids per day. King Georges red coats would have been thrilled to be kicking in that many doors daily.
Oh and Im sure all these SWAT raids aren't to save hostages (lol), more like drug busts to enrich the kings coffers.

A 355 to 62 vote means both parties are just fine with the ongoing militarization of police departments
Thanks for posting that info I was not aware that any legilation was introduced.

Cut down the music - the levels are way too hot and the clipping is obnoxious.

With a population of 8,500 it is over kill, if not for this post I would not be able to point Doraville out on a map if my life depended on it.

Except the crime rate IS lower than at many, many points in the past and the police aren't "chilled out." WIth a lower crime rate the police are more aggressive than ever before.

Aren't these the "well regulated militias" that gun grabbers are always so supportive of?

Another reason to support the 2nd amendment!

I had no idea how many cities either bought or on the wait list for MRAPS (mine resistant military) talk about overkill.

I do not mind if they use military surplus gear as long as they know how to handle it. They do not get MRAPS because they fear landmines and IEDs, they get them because they are surplus.

The military needs to stop getting rid of military equipment by fobbing it off on small local police departments that aren't trained in warfare and shouldn't be.
