Officials say a police officer who was part of the effort to keep peace during protests in Ferguson, Mo., has been suspended indefinitely for pointing a semi-automatic assault rifle at demonstrators, then cursing and threatening to kill one of them. A St. Louis County police spokesman says the incident involving an officer from the St. Ann Police Department happened late yesterday. The officer's name hasn't been released. A county police sergeant took immediate action, telling the officer to lower the weapon and escorting him from the area, said the spokesperson.
I agree. What if someone would have taken it as a legitimate threat.
Some are always giving officers the benefit while telling you to 'submit' to whatever an officer tells you to do.
If an officer doesn't know the basic laws, fire them. They failed the tests.
If they don't have the temper, fire them. They could be a threat to public safety.
Some situations aren't so black and white but some situations are. This is one of those. Suspended without pay and demoted. Desk duty maybe. Take his gun away.
I'm not even saying throw the book at him I'm just being real. Some of us guys KNOW we don't have the temper for the profession. Be honest and not looking for a quick paycheck. And definitely don't be looking to exert your power over people.

I saw that the article did not say whether it was with pay or without, not unless I missed it somewhere. probably with pay knowing the cops and their public unions.
