Very sad to say the lease, that so many white Americans are in serious denial and dismiss the fact that there are serious problems in the United States regarding discrimination in employment, housing, etc when it comes to the MAJORITY black people.

The Democrats are the one's who hurt the black community by keeping them trapped into poverty with no way out. They do this with their social programs, they don't want them to become independent and free, they want them to think that they are victims and that society owes them something. That the Government is their friend and they need it to take care of them because they lack the ability to take care of themselves. Democrats have found a way to essentially put them back in chains, making them slaves to the very welfare state that the Democrats created. They do this to "buy votes" essentially and to control them.

It echos the infamous words of Racist Democrat LBJ- LiveLeak.com - ALLEN WEST: LBJ, ?I?ll Have Those N* Voting Democratic for the Next 200 Years?

The way to fix this is to reform welfare into a temporary solution and help them find jobs and skills. Workfare, not welfare. Of course in order to do this we need to have a strong economy that can create a strong job market, no point in having job skills if no one is hiring. The obvious way to do this is to make it easier for businesses to be created and expand, which can be done by having a lower tax burden and less oppressive regulations. Liberal Democrat Socialist policies such as raising the minimum wage and other anti-business policies end up killing jobs and preventing The People from trying to get ahead and create a better life for themselves.

Oh stop it already. Learn to speak proper English, learn how to dress and stop tattooing your face and neck and maybe you will be taken more seriously.

Sounds like some people were watching Fox News. I couldn't believe how last night one of their pin heads had Laura Ingraham on, and they managed to turn the Michael Brown incident into a discussion about how welfare needs to be stopped.

This looks as the endpoint and assumes the reason with no analysis. "If there is a difference, the only reason it could be is racial discrimination." That's an intellectual shortcut.

It's all they know because it's all they've been taught.

From the article...
Over the past 25 years, the wealth gap between blacks and whites has nearly tripled, according to research by Brandeis University.

That's in large part because home ownership among blacks is so much lower. Housing is often Americans' greatest asset and a major component of their overall wealth.
Total baloney. Home ownership is not the problem. You buy a house with money - or - the "promise" to a lending institutional that a person will have continual income for 30 years.

You get money, or a continual income with marketable skills that people will pay you for. Many us not are not getting these skills - therefore a large number of us can not generate income. That's the problem.

Before we blame others, we need to look at ourselves and our part in this. The business climate also has a part in this also - in other words, how much opportunity exists for people to generate an income.

The blue above needs to be removed as part of the problem.

So much for an open and honest discussion on the subject

That is the problem, right there, and it applies to both sides.

There are lots of problems, and most solutions also introduce other problems. Fact is that racism does exist, but the fact is ALSO that some of the things people do to try to fix the problems also make it worse. (I'm not blaming either side, I'm blaming both)

I was having this discussion last night. My take on the answer is twofold:

1. People need to take personal responsibility. That means that if you are part of a group that has more hurdles to clear, you have to work harder to achieve the same thing. That is sure as heck what I am teaching my daughter who is female (strike one) and has serious, life-long medical issues (strike two). Not to feel sorry for herself, but instead to recognize the challenges, and face them head on.

But then, there is more:
2. While every person needs to take on their own responsibility, we as a society need to be honest, realize where inequity exists, and slowly chip away at it. There are no overnight fixes, and in fact there will ALWAYS be inequities in the world. It's just a fact. We always need to strive to be better, to minimize them.

With all that said, this middle-aged white guy realizes that he is lucky, and that I have less barriers than most. (Even with affirmative action, and many other things going against me, in the overall scheme of things, I have it easier than black person with all other things being equal.)
