Feguson must be messed up, but greater St. Louis has a bad reputation in general. I liked that video of the guy and the reporter who stared down the looters and cussed them out while they offered feeble excuses for their behavior. They acted like a frightened pack of rats and eventually attacked him with a traffic cone.

He should have been suspended that dude was talking about hating everyone and killing a lot of people, etc. that's the kind of person who doesn't need to be given any kind of authority to use violence legally.

The video is very typical of conservatives full of hatred, fear, and threatening violence angry at the world. It was illogical as hell.

Indeed. Personally I think he was running at the mouth and exaggerating somewhat to make a point, and at any rate his political views don't pose a direct threat, but the bottom line is that a man like that is just too unstable to be a police officer.

So, conservatives want to kill everyone because they hate everyone equally while threatening violence all the time? Just what group in what reality are you looking at here? This description doesn't match the vast majority of conservatives I see, and it reeks of character assassination. Those who are using this nut to demonize conservatives who do not agree with his more repugnant viewpoints (which also have nothing to do with conservatism as such) should be ashamed at running such a smear campaign, and those who are using this nut to demonize all white males should be condemned as the racists and sexists they are. Seriously, how is this any different from 19th century people using a few nuts to claim that all black males were after white women? It was racism and sexism then, and it is racism and sexism now.

Also, you racists may want to consider that by using this man to demonize male whites as inherently fearful, hateful, and violent, you are playing right into the hands of those white supremacists who argue "anti-racist is a codeword for anti-white". It is not, but if anti-racism is used as a cover for anti-white racism it will help prove their point in the minds of the public - if all that nominal racial equality does for whites is make them into a hated race they will start to think "what was the point?", become legitimately concerned that the same thing that happened to whites in Zimbabwe will happen in America, and at that point racial progress will be in serious jeopardy.

A very eloquent double standard

Huh?

This man was speaking in front of the conservative group the Oath Keepers. After his speech that asked him to join. So the Oath Keepers agreed with what he said.

Lawyer Stewart Rhodes, who once supervised interns for Congressman Ron Paul, was working as a campaign volunteer for Paul's presidential bid when he hit on the idea for Oath Keepers, and many of his group's early supporters emerged from the doomed campaign. Paul's own Campaign for Liberty website blogs frequently about Oath Keepers' doings, and Paul's son Rand spoke at a Tea Party staged by Committees of Safety, the group that introduced Oath Keepers to the wider patriot community.

The Tea Party Nation, one of the more extreme factions of the Tea Party movement, has dipped deeper into the conspiratorial waters of antigovernment lore, most recently promoting the Oath Keepers and other antigovernment “Patriots” as the last line of defense for Americans increasingly confronted with “a government verging on evil.”

Associated with Tea Party Movement - After the 2009 rally, Rhodes’s organization will become closely affiliated with the tea party movement; on July 4, 2009, Rhodes will send speakers to administer his organization’s “oath” at over 30 tea party rallies across the nation. He will take part in the September 12, 2009 “9/12” march in Washington, DC (see September 12, 2009), and host rallies in Florida and other states. [MOTHER JONES, 3/2010]

The organization has worked hard to become a staple of tea party events, and tells tea partiers that bringing guns to those events reminds participants of their constitutional rights. The organization has made strong connections with groups such as the Constitution Party and Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, and national figures such as Ralph Reed, the former director of Pat Robertson’s Christian Coalition, and Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America. Elected officials such as Broun, Gingrey, Bachmann, and Steve King (R-IA) have expressed their interest in sponsoring legislation crafted by Oath Keeper leaders.

Well, I hope he gets his job back. We should not be firing people for their political views. Probably 1/5 of the US population agrees with everything he said, too, and a majority of us agree with a lot of it.

O.K. but he hasn't been fired. I understand that isn't as important as what he said but posted in the interest of having the correct story.

It all depends on the requirements of the job. The requirements are I'm sure that all are treated equally. Can he do that? I'd say it would be reasonable to question that. So he is going through the process.
