I know that people have issues with harassment, misconduct and corruption, but that's different than not wanting Police in their neighborhood.
I think if Policing for profit was stopped, the Drug War was ended and there was complete transparency on our forces people would once again gain respect for the Police.
Right now however the Police routinely violate our Constitutional rights with impunity.

Our area does not want police......or, fire protection.
We do have to go to the county sheriff from time to time for paper work.
"Should we quit providing Policing Neighborhoods that don't want cops?"
Isn't this basically what happened in Detroit? The news from Ferguson was all about how they "don't trust the police". They don't "trust the prosecutor".
The street chant was:
"Who do we want? - Darren Wilson!
How do we want him? - DEAD!"
The top cop in the USA went to Ferguson to reinforce the entire idea that Police can't be trusted. The State Governor pre-judges the case before the investigation was completed and before the Grand Jury got the case.
Why should there be any police in an area like that? They appear to only want "Street Justice".
Perhaps they should have exactly what they want.
