Yes I've heard of soap, so don't be stupid. I've also heard that bathrooms have soap, water and towels, and yet people leave store restrooms without washing their hands. Unless the cloth bags look dirty, a lot of people won't be washing their bags after each trip to the store, so they will be breeding bacteria, with the great potential for making people sick.
Is this really a major problem? I've heard of only one case of food poisoning involving reusable bags. I've shopped with reusables for years with nary a problem, and I'm on immunosuppressive therapy, so if anyone needs to be careful about germs, it's me. I think this issue is overplayed.

Happily, more don't want to fill the oceans with crap even for the sake of keeping right-wingers from being sad.

Who owes you free plastic bags anyway?

California always seems to blaze its own path. It should continue along its own path by declaring independence.

No there is not an issue with food poisoning with regard to reusable bags it has been overstated, more like what if's but no facts.

When you start to age, the first thing to go is the memory.

I recall ALL the hoopla about how paper bags were no good because of all the trees that had to be cut down.

I needs some investors for a couple of "Hemp" reusable bag factories.
The tree huggers will buy them for inflated prices just to say they have hemp bags.
