House of Raeford, one of the nation's top chicken and turkey producers, appears to be transforming its work force amid a court fight over federal charges that a subsidiary knowingly hired illegal immigrants.

Current and former workers at the company's main plant in Raeford say the firm stopped hiring immigrants in recent months and let hundreds more go for using fake documents.

Once more than 80 percent Latino, the production floor at the Raeford plant is now up to 70 percent African-American, workers
said.

Before there were hardly any African-Americans," said Rashida Grace, 19, a line worker who has been at the plant over a year. "Now there are only a few Latinos."
RAEFORD: At House of Raeford, far fewer Latino workers | Nation/World | NewsObserver.com

More repulsive liberal lies!

"We need illegal immigrants because American's won't do the work!"

As this case proves, liberals are woefully uninformed, America-hating, emotional crybabies who should NEVER be trusted to guide American policy. EVER!

And black people.....when will you folks EVER LEARN that Democrats and Liberals are NOT on your side? These are jobs your community could have taken years ago....and yet you absolutely refuse to hold Democrats accountable for WILLINGLY letting your jobs be given to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS????

Raise your hand if you're still for giving these people amnesty???

Unbelievable!

Repulsive Liberal Lies: "American's Won't Do the Work, So We Have to Hire Illegals!"

Are business owners liberals now? In S.C. no less?

Yes. Liberals go to the government to get what they want. In this case business owners want open borders because they can pay the newcomers less than those already here. Definition of liberal.

If the flow of illegal immigrant stopped, and existing illegals were prevented from getting jobs, there would be no supply of cheap labor. Our very own people would do the work. Democrats are actively fighting for amnesty and other border-opening schemes. Do you deny this?

Exactly right. If the border were not wide-open, there would be no opportunity for these businesses to hire illegal immigrants. While both parties' intransigence towards border security is well-known, it is liberals and Democrats who are actively pursuing an open-border policy and amnesty for those who walk right into our country and take our jobs.

I seem to recall when Alabama enacted harsher policies on hiring undocumented immigrants, a lot of food ended up rotting in the field because producers couldn't find American workers to do the work as quickly or as well (or at all).

Immigration law already hurting farms | TuscaloosaNews.com

I'm not saying what's right or wrong, but I am saying apparently it is hard to find American citizens to do this work.

If the pay is schitty, it will be harder to find workers. That much is true.

My understanding is that corporate America and Wall Street also like the flow of illegals. Cheap labor is good for profits, whether it's due to illegals doing the work, or simply the downward force on overall wages that they create.

Yes, "also" is the operative word. Corporate America to some degree are hiring illegal immigrants. But, the United States Government is responsible for securing the border. If illegal immigrant workers were not even an option, then American businesses would hire American workers. Blame the government....and specifically blame Democrats and liberals for perpetuating the demand for amnesty and derailing all attempts to secure the border.

This line of crap has been coming out of the mouth's of Harry Reid and Nancy Piglosi for a long time now.
Obama himself has perpetrated this lie for the last 6 years. This old "They just came here because they want a better life" BS makes me want to puke.

People are crying for jobs and yet this is condoned by Obama & his minions. E-Verify is the law of the
land, but, Company's like Tyson just ignore it. They should shut these places down........

I don't know what the solution is unless we can run these a-holes out of office. Then maybe we could
close the border, finish the fence and arrest every illegal we can find........
