So if I say that Juan a illegal gets a construction job for $15 a hour, doesn't pay taxes, gets subsidies like free healthcare, doesn't have car insurance just drives a car without a license or insurance, while John the construction worker if he can get $25 a hour for construction now, does pay taxes to help pay for Juan, doesn't qualify for free subsidies, does have car insurance including uninsured in case Juan does a hit & run on him, which means John's take home pay after taxes and expenses is less that Juan's.

or

That some guy named Muhammed or other converted to Islam currently are demanding convert or die and are chopping people everyday in the news and doing honor killings and are creating religious controlled governments while hardly any such thing is heard of from a christian or other religion in current times ...

that would be racist and xenophobic to state such........

ok

remember people we should be screening Buddhist for terrorists not muslims less we be called "racist"

The title of this thread asks "what can republicans do to stop alienating people?" The question really is when will progressive liberals stop alienating the truth?

You nailed it, any facts, stats or observation they dislike is hateful, racist, xenophobic, ect.

Yes both of those paragraphs are dishonest, racist, and xenophobic.

Racists always think their racism against some hated group is justified.

My favorite example of this is Thomas Jefferson, a man who by most accounts was brilliant.

Yet he wrote a book titled notes on the state of Virginia, in which he wrote that he believed that negroes prefer the beauty of white people like orangutans preferred the beauty of black women.

He also wrote that he didn't think black people loved like white people and a whole lot more racist stuff.

He honestly believed that his observations about black people were right based on what he knew and saw and experienced.

Remember he was a very intelligent man, he didn't think what he thought he observed and knew about black people was wrong or even evil yet his thoughts were both.

Thomas Jefferson believed he was stating facts about the state of black people. He thought he was telling the truth about black people. Yet he wasn't.

Here's what I know people who demonize other human beings are always proven to be wrong, driven by bigotry and hatred.

If a man as intelligent as Thomas Jefferson can be so wrong and he believed he was right, why can't anyone who demonizes another group of human beings?

It's fairly obvious that you are, but can't see it.

Again, I know conservatives can't help but see and discuss those groups people they hate in this way and can't see them differently which proves my point. Thanks

Shift towards becoming the party of pragmaticism. Republicans are top dogs in economics, time to show it.

Shift away from the religious right. These people will vote republican no matter what. There is no point in over-pandering to the base. Need to tone it down a bit to win the swing votes who decide elections.

Forget token ethnics. Pick candidates based on merit.

As a republican, that's my take on it.

One only has to look even around the world to see the trend. From Scotland to Spain to China people want more local control over their lifes; ALA smaller national government. The UK just promised Scotland exactly what they had earlier demanded and were refused to keep them in union. Hong Kong protestors basically have said they do not want to be just another Chinese city but keep their own identity and more control of governance. We se it in Germany as well in election results and France is going that direction after years of socialist domination. That is really what GOP has stood for just what our forefather recognized ;the difference in regions of a large country such as US. thus states rights given in governance by constitution. We see the conflict caused by big one size fits all federal powers that grew since the mid 60's. Many liberal cities and states have gone their own way also in minimum wage and even drugs. for instance.

Stop deflecting by bringing up a founder and explain how my statement is not true and is racist? Are you saying what I said is not happening?

Forget about a white founder 200 years ago and respond to situations of illegal workers and muslims like Juan and Mohammed which is happening now in Sept 30 2014............

For people who call themselves "progressives" you sure like dwelling on the past when it suits you and ignoring current affairs

You do not give any reason why those statements are racist and untrue, you just name call in order to stop any debate because you can not win.

Kind of like how you leftist demonize anyone who tells the truth as "racist" or "bigots" or "xenophobic"?

Its clear who and what you hate, the truth, reality, facts, stats and reason and all who hate them...

You can't explain away a belief.

I bring up Thomas Jeffereson because he is well known and generally thought to be brilliant.

Let me ask you something do you think someone could have explained to someone who believes based on their observations and life experiences it's a fact that black people don't love like white people that this belief wasn't true?

You believe these things to be true. Your beliefs the phony facts you may or may not have to support those beliefs have no real basis in reality. No one can explain away a belief because the belief is nor based on facts or rational thinking.

Those beliefs are racist and xenophobic because they are wrong and dishonest about an ethnic and religious group.

People like her can't stand the facts. To object to illegal aliens in our country for various factual reasons beyond the fact that it is against the law for them to be here in the first place is considered to be xenophobic or racist according to her. Enforcing our immigration laws and not desiring amnesty is also xenophobic and racist according to her.
