I have news for you this whole immigration issue rests primarily on the backs of business. You are for business and less regulation are you are not? Or are you anti-business?

Agribusiness needs 1 to 1 and half million Mexican and other laborers a year to pick their harvest. Agribusiness is the forefront of immigration reform, from this Week in Agribusiness:

Quote:
After lengthy discussion in the voting delegate session, the American Farm Bureau Federation called on the President and Congress to act on meaningful immigration reform in this session and they called for adoption of the Agriculture Workforce Coalition’s two -part Worker Program.

That program would allow 11-month visas for “at will” laborers who move from farm-to- farm during harvest.
So...who is responsible for this problem?

Texas is a conservative state and we're not too far behind CA with regards to non English speaking school children.
Shifting demographics of the US is what you are seeing.

While Texas is not quite near CA at 33% we're over 20%.

It's not like any self-respecting right-winger would ever set foot in Cali anyway. What's the difference?

As someone who speaks 4 languages, I just laugh. Make the effort and learn another. Any well educated individual should feel comfortable speaking two. I don't mind Spanish one bit. Who cares.

Several administrations starting decades ago are responsible for this mess we are in and they are/were in the back pockets of businesses who want this cheap, illegal labor.

As for the Ag business there are unlimited H-2A visas for legal, foreign workers so just what is their problem? There is no reform. It's simply amnesty for millions of illegal aliens and most of them aren't picking crops.

With the drought in California I don't think there is going to be much to pick.

The US had always have enough migrants to pick their harvest. 1 to 1.5 million you say? What about the other 8.5 million illegals (that's the same number that gov't had been using since 2000 - it's probably double by now)? Does he US have a shortage in the service industry, construction, and other industries that employ illegals?
