Too bad he'll be labeled a bigot. This is why a lot of liberals have distanced themselves from him.

While it is certainly true that all or even most Muslims are extremists; Islam provides a lot more justification for extremism and violence than most other religions. Mohammad was a Middle Ages warlord and his considered to be the perfect Muslim. While he may or may not have been relatively benign for his time his behavior is supposed to set the example for all Muslims. Imagine if there was a religion foundex on Alexander the Great or Caesar or William the Conqueror and you get the idea. Also the details of law and society are set down in quite a bit of detail in the Koran and Hadiths and explicitly stated to never be changed. While Christianity and Judaism leave at least a bit of room for interpretation. That's why so many Christian sects condemn homosexuality and adultry, but leave out the whole stoning part.
