Not sure if this has been mentioned already but a US Vet of nearly 25 yrs and the Stepfather of a 11 yr old girl who was told she could not wear a T-Shirt showing the names of those who died in the Twin Towers.

Apparently the school has a uniform policy and does have a FREE clothing day but Sept 11th and the 13th Anniversary day was not one of them.

I wonder if the Administrators of the school district ever heard of the "Day of Infamy" we honor every year.

What's the problem? The school has a uniform and kids can only wear personal t-shirts on "free dress" days.

School Bans Orangevale Sixth Grader’s Sept. 11 Tribute T-Shirt, Calls It Dress Code Violation « CBS Sacramento

District spokesman Trent Allen says students are only allowed to wear clothing outside of the uniform on free dress days, and Sept. 11 isn’t one of those days.
“Unfortunately that kind of shirt would not fit in that dress code policy,” he said.
He says not allowing the shirt has nothing to do with the day, and they certainly understand the significance.

If they fly the Flag and say the Pledge then they honor those who fell on 9-11 every day.

No issue with the school enforcing dress code.

The word "ban" is totally overplayed. I rarely click links to news stories if it's used in the headline anymore because most of the time nothing was actually "banned" and it's just yellow journalism.

And this is why any public school should be prohibited from having uniforms.

Eh...December 7th? That falls on a Sunday this year. Maybe she can wear it at Sunday School.

[with that said - non-issue]

I think every school should have some sort of uniform. We would solve so many problems. There is way to much emphasis and distractions on clothing in schools.
