I asked my feminist wife if this was true and she told me to shut my cake-hole, she's busy watching football.

You're completely missing the point. Just because some people get away with doing something wrong does not make it right and it does not mean that we give up on trying to eliminate the criminal behavior in question. If we could catch and punish everyone who is currently getting away with spousal and/or child abuse, I'm all for it.

If President Obama gives one of his girls a "whoopin" and cuts her face up in the process, he isn't just going to be taken to task for it. He will elicit the most over-the-top scandal imaginable. Remember Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinski? Presidents make the choice to be public figures and with that choice comes consequences. People will hold them to a higher standard and they'll absolutely never get away with anything.

NFL players also made the choice to be public figures. They could have taken the free college education their athletic gifts got them and then used their degree get well-paying upper-middle class jobs. Instead, they agreed to be paid millions of dollars to play a sport that countless Americans normally play for free just for fun. They knew they would be in the public eye. They knew they would live the life of the proverbial fish in a fishbowl. They all know that everything they do or say is going to get noticed. Even the most trivial of things is going to be a huge news story. Is it really asking so much of a bunch of millionares to not beat their wives and girlfriends and children, etc???
