true, 'people of color' arbitrarily divides the world into white and everyone else. I find it one of the most offensive terms imaginable, yet it is much-loved by the NPR crowd.

Hmm last time I looked in the mirror I was a "person of colour" if I wasn't, the woman would be calling 911 ...... Seems the persons that are getting all bent of of shape are those that claim OTHERS are too easily offended ....

Asia is a geographic location. Asian means from that location, it is not a race. Oriental is more specific. People from Siberia are Caucasian, they are also from Asia, they look nothing like people from China. People from India are from Asia, they look nothing like people from China.

If someone from Denmark is Danish, should they be offended at calling a pastry a Danish? Seems kind of silly. Rugs are Oriental only if they are from Asia or resemble rugs which come from that region.

"People of color" is a bad joke because a Hispanic of pure Swedish family probably has much lighter skin than an anglo white American of brown skin Sicilian family.

White supremacy at work here.

I say that because it's Ok in Asia for 1 of their own to say another Asian to say how "white" in color she is but, NEVER use a word like "Negrito", that's a bald faced insult.

Too; if a dark skin Chicano marries into an anglo white family, that Chicano suddenly becomes "Spanish", NOT "Mexican".

Same thing with light skin "Black" dudes usually having less trouble getting ahead tho it seems to be less and less of a problem for dark skin Black ladies, especially if "marrying out".

Default Democrats double standards

Sarah Palin's not in elected office, yet Democrats and their media obsessively focus on her gaffes more so than Vice President Biden. What gives with the double standard?

Joe Biden’s gaffe immunity - Debra J. Saunders
I get sick of saying this, but I also get sick of the double standard where GOP gaffes are the subject of much media scrutiny, but when Democrats misspeak, it's not a story. As the Washington Post wrote of Harry Reid, he makes so many gaffes that he has a sort of "gaffe immunity."

CHARLES COOKE: Forgiving Biden: Media that lean left will react differently to their friends than to their enemies.
Gaffe by a Republican: Their inner bigotry is showing through the mask! Gaffe by a Dem: Meh, people misspeak sometimes.

Harry Reid enjoys immunity from foot-in-mouth disease - SFGate
After Biden's perfunctory apology [for referring to Asians as Orientals], then comes the phase when Beltway solons offer explanations for why the Senate's top Democrat can be the author of many a faux pas without being branded as a creepy kook. The Washington Post's Aaron Blake wrote that Reid is "like Joe Biden; he's almost built up a gaffe immunity by committing so many small-ish gaffes."

Republican Sarah Palin's many ill-considered words define her in Washington. But Democrat Reid gets gaffe immunity. He just keeps running off at the mouth, then apologizing, but never really having to worry about paying a heavy political price. He's a ruthless politician, and yet Washington treats him as if he is this regular guy - but with a tact problem.

If a GOP Senate candidate said half the things Reid has said, then Reid would show him no mercy.

By the way, Oriental and Orient are not offensive (at least not in the UK, or Latin America). But, only in America do people get offended very easily over anything, including spilled milk
'Nuff said +1
Plus iirc wasn't it a REPUBLICAN that PUKED in an Oriental's lap? That was much worse
