I take that as a compliment. In the past, people had morals and values. It used to be a shameful thing to be known as someone who sleeps around or have a kid out of wedlock. Now, it's just run-of-the-mill. No one will bat so much as an eye.

I doubt that statement very much. One reason monogamy is healthy is because yes, less chance of spreading disease but also because it helps to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Now? Meh, who cares! just go get an abortion! Also kids need a stable environment with two parents to care for and provide for them. It's also not healthy to have a bunch of kids in the system because their parents didn't want the responsibility of having to care for the kid, or have single parent homes where the mother didn't really want the thing but knows it's a meal ticket if she keeps it.

Monogamy is what is natural and best for humanity. It's just common sense.

i call this progress.
I'm not surprised. You're a product of a liberal society. Not your fault I guess. This is the world you've grown up in, the world that has shaped your personality and thought processes. Of course, it's the world I've grown up in as well, but apparently, I went the opposite way. If you call more disease, more unwanted pregnancies, more unstable single parent homes, more kids in foster care, etc progress, then so be it I guess.

I'm not religious btw. I'm a 20 something atheist. I don't need a god to tell me that promoting casual sex and a nonchalant attitude towards all things sexual is bad for society.
The primary reason for ''sex'' - sexual intercourse - is procreation though most people don't consider that aspect.
Given people have been rubbing on their junk since early infancy and the internet has taught two generations how to perform as porn stars and is now about to flip to 3 with 4 tumbling right along.
Do you suggest humanity only realized sex is fun within the past 40 years?

When did the practice of carrying a ru**er around in one's wallet begin? 50s?. That means all of those cool guys with the very visible rings were getting laid. A lot of them who thought they were cool weren't.

Who promoted debauchery back then?

It's cyclic and has gone on since day one for mankind.

The most intelligent animal on earth cannot fight nature or primal urges. It is instead invited.

Who's to say I haven't?

What I have or have not done is my business, I feel no pressure to tell you or anyone else all about it just because society says I should puff out my chest like a man and tell everyone how macho it is that I've slept with X amount of women.

harr harr harr

That's part of the problem.

I'm not saying that term itself is "liberal" I'm saying the nonchalant no big deal type of attitude he obviously has about sex in general is what is liberal.

Adding. You were not being vulgar. That term, I have never heard before. You didn't use it. I was just pointing out that I don't think that poster is "liberal" because he uses it, just vulgar. I'm pretty liberal on many social issues, but liberal doesn't have to mean accepting "raw dogging"(yuck!) and thinking sex without consequences is OK or healthy.

That's where we disagree. LOL. I don't see it as a liberal attitude at all, I see it as nonchalant (good word). The two words, in my point of view, aren't the same.

I agree with you here. It's no surprise that humans are addicted to sex, violence, and gore. it makes sense. It's what is left of our primitive urges.

Proof that we are mere animals ourselves....

However, we are far more intelligent than most animals { supposedly } and we are self aware. We are able to reason. We are able to work out complexities. We are able to adapt and make decisions that are best for our survival, so why do we still celebrate and promote some of the most primitive of our behaviours as a society?

Note that I'm not saying we shouldn't have sex or pretend like teens won't. As many have said, it's biology. However, there is a difference between having a serious discussion with youth about sex, as opposed to handing Johnny a condom, giving him a slap on the back and telling him "go make me proud boy".... and that s exactly what society is doing.
