Conservatism is a joke.
A lot of the reagan worship is revisionist history. He actually got plenty of criticism from his right in the 80's for the things you named.

The universal love and distortion of his legacy came like 20 years after the fact

Country is a hopeless mess. If a POTUS does not roll-out caboodles of goodies....he is evil.

Well, he fired those illegally-striking government mooches.......that is a big plus!

I am not a fan of Reagan by any means, but I will not criticize or condemn him for "cutting and running" from Lebanon as you put it. If anything after the barracks bombing Reagan was at least smart enough to recognize a lost cause and not to further interfere in an area we know little. A more hawkish president might have escalated the bombing into a full blown conflict. So as far as Lebanon is concerned I give the man credit for making the right decision.

He clearly deflected.

Just like liberals tend to unfortunately deflect when pointing out that Clinton deregulated, encouraged outsourcing, pushed China into the WTO, saw the national debt increase every fiscal year, etc... And deflect again when you point out Barack W. Obush's record.

But believe me and I do know what I am talking about, this had nothing to do with his feelings about gays. Many did not take it seriously enough in the mid 80s, when it became a health issue. It was much later we realized just how bad it was and we started addressing the issue seriously.

bs, the entire medical community thought it was serious. reagan just ignored it for a long, long, long time despite what the medical community told him.
