Anybody find the irony in the lesbian couple saying that it would be tougher to raise a daughter of "mixed ethnicity" than to be a lesbian couple in a conservative town?

Living in that small conservative town they think it's tougher to be black than to be homosexual.

Amazing. Bigot lesbians. Lessons to learn.

Quote:
Cramblett and her partner have stated that there are challenges to raising Payton in the small, virtually all-white town of Uniontown, Ohio. Cramblett stated in the lawsuit that she was raised in a community that held racially intolerant beliefs about people of color. Cramblett did not meet any black Americans until she attended college. The lawsuit states that it is because of her upbringing that “Jennifer acknowledges her limited cultural competency relative to African-Americans and steep learning curve, particularly in small, homogenous Uniontown, which she regards as too racially intolerant.”
Hardships like, finding a place for the child to have her hair done?

Quote:
One of the couple’s concerns involves getting Payton’s hair done. It requires Cramblett to travel to a black community where she is “not overtly welcome.”
Hmm.... plenty of YouTube tutorials online about how to style hair. I had no idea that hair wasn't hair, but black people have hair made of Kryptonite. Amazing.

And just to top it all off, her family could make concessions with regard to her sexuality, but a child who isn't snow white would be too much for the family to bear and cause unnecessary alienation from within their own family and the society they live in.

Wow. Just wow. When this child is old enough to read and understand what her biological mother concocted as an argument to abandon her. It's truly pathetic.

Quote:
The lawsuit goes on to say, “Though compelled to repress her individuality amongst family members, Payton’s differences are irrepressible, and Jennifer does not want Payton to feel stigmatized or unrecognized due simply to the circumstances of her birth. Jennifer’s stress and anxiety intensify when she envisions Payton entering an all-white school.”

And yes, those of us who think the sperm bank should be held accountable are most likely considered racists--which doesn't bother me even a little bit.

The term "bi-racial" may be used in this country to mean black x white, but it should correctly be used for any combination other than same race--white x black, white x Mexican , black x Mexican, etc.

She's just going to have to deal with issues for the rest of her (and the child's) life that she wouldn't otherwise have with a non-bi-racial child.

And THAT is the fault of the sperm bank.
I'd agree but "Mexican" ain't a race. Most are part Indian but not all so; a Mestizo dude gets a pasty white anglo lady preggers, that kid will look "Italian" at most. Hell; some anglo whites have pretty damn dark skin and, get mixed up with dark skin "Hispanics" all the time.

It doesn't matter that the sperm bank made a mistake. What matters is that this child could perceive its existence as a mistake since her parents were so adament about having a white child. What's done is done, what they should've done was worked out a settlement with the sperm bank as soon as they found out and left the media out of it. Yes the sperm bank mixed things up, but it was perhaps an incident that was meant to happen. Be thankful you have a beautiful, healthy child, millions don't even get that.

There's a lawyer the dollar signs in his eyes behind this.
Agreed.

Too; if it was a "Black" Lesbian couple with an anglo white sperm donor, IMHO they'd NOT be as upset as these 2 white ladies over their mixed race kid.

I wouldn't bet on that.

You might be right. I ain't "Black" so I don't know. But with many Black people STILL trying to claim "1 drop rule" to keep especially light skin mixed race people on the "team", they really shouldn't be too mad over "1 of their own" being a bit lighter, even if she had a white sperm donor.

Wow Tea Partiers are seriously disturbed. Imagine how that child will feel when he/she sees her mother is repulsed that he/she had slightly too much pigment. Never understand that creepy conservative white supremacist mindset, shame anyone with money can get all the fertility treatments they want.

Hmmm...ok. I can respect this view even though I don't believe it.

Gay people can be bigots just like all the other people on the planet. Poor little baby. My daughter and son in law would love it....really.

Yes. I know. Neither is Hispanic. And...I know the history of Mexico/Mestizo, et al......

They may be mestizo, but that's not a common term used here.

You can't win.
