Why do people who love the Big Nanny State Government feel that they have to tell the rest of us how to live our lives? Is it their inferiority complex?

Apparently your labor is the opposite of your sexuality in California: You can sell it, but you can't give it away for free.

California has a state law that prohibits for-profit companies from using volunteer labor. Anybody who knows anything about employment economics knows that this isn't going to hit those big, dastardly corporations that people hate. No, it's going to end up destroying small wineries like Westover Winery in Castro Valley.

It is about control; some people took 1984 as a "how to manual" instead of a cautionary tale.

Statists...what can you do except hopefully put them in mass graves one day?

The problem here is the state isn't getting it's cut. For example they could charge a fee for the experience but also pay them, that of course involves mountains of paperwork, taxes...perhaps some state mandated benefits. Maybe get a union going. LOL

The lack of water in California will eventually force them out of business anyway.

So a for profit company wanted to have people work for them and not get paid for their labor? That only seems to make sense to the far right wingers.

Yes, and I have seen interns be paid for their work because having people work for free is called abusing the workforce.

Do you know what "volunteer" means?
Do you know what "for profit" means? They should be making enough profit to tell those that wish to volunteer that they will actually get paid for their hours of service.

And unpaid internships should be illegal. In a number of states they actually are.
