LOL, I read that too, and could only think "Because things are rarely that simple".

I think it's a cause/effect thing. Less intelligent people, because they know less, are more fearful of unfamiliar stimuli and situations. So, it makes sense that they'd be attracted to conservatism. Remember, the classical definition of conservatism has nothing to do with capitalism vs socialism, rather it's about having a preference for the status quo and being averse to change and new (re: unfamiliar) ideas.

I'm pretty sure that that graph is talking about the classical definition of conservatism and not the Republican party in general, so no need for anyone to get offended by it just because they didn't vote for Obama.

Without a doubt, this is the funniest thread to ever appear in this forum. And not just a little funny... it's knee slapping roll on the floor hilariously funny. Side-splittingly funny.

Because studies done by liberals and designed to come to the conclusion that liberals are more intelligent will almost always end up concluding that liberals are more intelligent.

Groups of people can be stupid. An individual person can be highly intelligent on both sides.

I"ll give you a black and white issue, see how many libs can give you a straight answer on it. " OK, TRY your gun grabs. I"ll kill you by the hundreds if you try, and so will hundreds, if not thousands of other gunowners. What will you do about that, hmm?"

Agree Interestingly, that is what Jesus preached. He wants us to treat others as we treat ourselves. Sadly, the messages we get from many parts of society are the antithesis of this message. We are being told and shown, look out for #1. One can see it when you are out driving and in some interactions with other members of the public.

Back the OP's comments about intelligence and religious beliefs - while I accept that there is a correlation between lower IQ and religious beliefs, let us be careful not to translate this to mean that because someone has such beliefs, then they must be less intelligent. Averages are just that. I know many very wealthy (millionaires) who have built very successful businesses, who go to church and have a strong faith in God. Some are liberal, some conservative.

The older I get, the more I realize that the often less educated, have more wisdom in SOME areas than some of the Ph.D.'s I know! I think there is certain areas/types of intelligence that has yet to quantified.

I also wonder if sometimes we let our intelligence talk us out of, or take the place of our intuition, our inner knowing. Perhaps the more educated a person is, the less they use their intuition or inner knowing and thus do not feel the God connection.

Because intelligent people are smart enough to know that healthcare should be treated as a right, not a privilege for the wealthy, smart enough to know that two men getting married has nothing to do with their lives and is not morally wrong and smart enough to know that there is a difference between murder and abortion. Just my two cents!

Many conservative intelligent folks out there, even in academia. But they tend to be in the business communities and thinktanks. Liberals tend to look at the arts and social sciences as part of their four year college degree. Lot of philosophizin' goin on there. Just different approaches.
I do think conservative places like business colleges and banks etc etc do crank out a high number of intelligent people, and the colleges that push business and marketing and consulting tend to be more conservative than those that preach the liberal arts (liberal arts as in wide-ranging studies, not liberal politics). You don't see lots of tye-dye at Harvard Business School.
So colleges aren;t always hotbeds for liberal activism exclusively. Lots of conservativism also. But you don't see Young Republicans noisily protesting. They just don;t. They're conservative.

BTW - OP, I get that you wanted to include those pics to represent the ignorance of the offenders...or at least that's what I thought it was intended to do. And I didn't take your post to be offensive, your intent was to state facts which I thought you clearly achieved. But honestly, I find the pics to be grossly offensive and disrespectful to our president. The spewing's of such ignorant people really don't merit being shared. What never ceases to amaze me about people like those ignoramuses, is that they only see the president as black rather than half white, half black.

BTW - I am of a reasonable intelligence, neither completely conservative nor liberal. We need a new term for people who want to shed these old, restrictive labels
