Why would the AG have a field day with the mayor when, in response to the City of Houston being sued, the City Attorney engaged in the standard discovery process of requesting documents that may contain relevant evidence from the plaintiffs?

this is much ado about SOMETHING.
Sorry no. This is normal idiocy from lawyers during depositions. You haven't been sued by a aggressive lawyer before have you?

That matches my understanding as well.

This whole issue is wrong on so many levels. Where is the DOJ protecting the rights of Christians from the Evil Mayor?

Holder will never show up, sadly

Thank God. We do NOT need Holder down here again, ever.

This whole thing is just WEIRD, and it started with the mayor and HER ordinance.

just another reason in the long long list of reasons to reign in government at all levels.

The Equal Rights Ordinance?
Looks like pastors are against equal rights, but howl when their rights are threatened.

Houston's embattled equal rights ordinance took another legal turn this week when it surfaced that city attorneys, in an unusual step, subpoenaed sermons given by local pastors who oppose the law and are tied to the conservative Christian activists that have sued the city.

What is the problem the pastors have with sharing their sermons?

It's for Christian ears only.

Ah. Another picture of Cruz. Dayum, that man is HOT.

But seriously....

Between 1998 and 2012, voters in 30 states have passed constitutional amendments banning same-sex marriage, often by overwhelming margins.

30 out of the 50, which is definitely not only a majority--but the fact that gay marriage was voted down overwhelmingly in Texas and some other states means NOTHING now. It's getting pointless to even go vote, because the will of the people will be overturned by activist judges.

The fact that CHURCHES and pastors are being attacked by those who disagree with them is just really scary. I mean, think about it. If you aren't free to attend a church whose minister is free to preach the denomination's beliefs....OMG.

Look at Obama's former minister Jeremiah Wright in Chicago. His sermons may have come under intense media scrutiny, but was he sued/subpoenaed because of his racist rantings?

This is downright scary.

These pastors are not party to the lawsuit - looks like intimidation from the Mayor and her cohorts:
