Do you use them? Do you wash them? Do you separate those you use for meat from those you use for vegies and other things?
Yes I have separate bags that I use for meat and veggies. I also use a backpack for canned goods. Finally the bags do get washed, it was something mentioned to me a number of years ago as a good idea to avoid contamination.

Are you opposed to the ability of a state or a municipality to decide if they want plastic or not?
Many, many municipalities, across the US ban plastic bags and not all of them lean liberal.
Many issues cross cross political lines.

There is a referendum campaign against this law. They are currently collecting signatures and paying $1.50 per signature. I expect the price to go up to $2.25-3 per signature within a month or so. So if you want to overturn this law, you can actually make decent money working towards your goal. From what I've heard, it is an extremely easy petition. People are getting 150-200 signatures per day.
Laundry - take out the plastic insert that keeps the bottom rigid and wash them on gentle.
