I would give an honest answer, but I don't want to be accused of being a racist. Hint...why is almost every country in Africa in severe poverty and almost every European country self sufficient and wealthy?
Oh wait. It must be because of discrimination. Roll eyes.
European countries are self sufficient/advanced because they lived next to Asia, and Europeans were able to take/copy Asian technology (like the domestication of animals, agriculture, writing, paper, the compass, glass, irrigation canals, gunpowder, ex.ex..) And Europeans became wealthy when they invaded North America and South America, and Europeans took their resources (like gold, lumber, and food (like fish.)
Where would Europeans be today if Asians did not show them how to domesticate animals, write, make glass, navigate with a compass, make gunpowder, ex.ex.??
And all human beings came from Africa, and therefore people in Africa never moved to new environments. This stationary living in Africa stagnated a certain technological development that happened when humans left Africa (like making a coat when it got cold, advanced planing for winter, or having to hunt different animals (with different tactics.) And European nations invaded Africa and stole its resources and enslaved African people.
Do you honestly believe Africans had the same opportunities as Europeans?
And don't forget the best brain surgeon in America is black, the head of NASA is black, and our favorite scientist is black (Neil Tyson.) The best boxers/MMA fighters are black, and they say the best soldiers in every war this country ever fought were black (like the Tuskegee Airmen.)

LOL. Asia is second to European countries in development at all levels. Japan is the closest, yet Africa lags behind every country and race on the planet.
Racism from employers, not having access to transportation, coming from a culture long denied jobs by American society, not having access to a good education (therefore limiting jobs they can attain.),
Living in a world where your best hope for success is to deal drugs, a large percentage of black males being unjustly imprisoned (therefore unable to work), a sizable percentage of their population being addicted to crack cocaine (and therefore mentally unable to hold a job.)
And (perhaps) coming from a culture that was 100% unable to get a job 75 years ago, and then having their only means of income being government/charitable welfare. And perhaps this cultural behavior continues to be passed along in a small/medium percentage of black Americans.
The Chinese and the Irish that migrated to the US at one point could fit into many of these points you bring up. They had major prejudice against them, hatred, obstacles to climb yet overcame it all and didn't use excuses perpetually. And they didn't have affirmative action either.

Those groups do have a good amount of self employment. That's what black-Americans could use more of.
Because blacks made it clear they support Democrats so dems know they don't have to work for you. Republicans know you'll never vote for them so why bother working for you?
But if you address facts, you will be called racist.
Which brings up another point. If a white and a black are equally qualified, which would you hire, a white that comes in and does the job but if they do something wrong, they could be corrected without fear of backlash or a black that you risk they'll scream racism at a drop if you look at them sideways.
Look at Barack Obama. He's really bad at his job but say something and they scream racism.
