Well, look. Sites such as this one are always looking for the most far out people they can find to label every conservative.

"Progressives" on the other hand do have a common agenda, and that is the "fundamental transformation" of the United states. The entire Left share that agenda.

Few conservatives (if any) would support this person (I never heard of him - does he belong to a group?), so to make it appear as though this is something being promoted by the "right-wing" is duplicitous.

Liberal propaganda at it's finest! Anyone who falls for this is a fool.

The author is a regular columnist at Townhall, but you just keep those fingers in your ears.

Nobody can act the part of the persecuted better than the people who feel their privileges should be laws of nature.

Every right, every ammendment in our constitution are for every single citizen of the USA, those rights are not based on sexual orientation. Gays are US citizens too, pay taxes too, raise children too, all those rights belong to us too. No rights should be abridged because the majority does not approve of the minority and if all states were to adapt that position with state rights trumping federal rights, then we would have chaos across the US, marriages left and right would not be valid from state to state. So, the Federal government prevents the states from abridging the rights of their citizens and get this, CIVIL MARRIAGE IS A FEDERAL RIGHT. This is not one judge ruling that bans on same sex marriage is a constitutional violation, it is nearly all of the judges. You need to study US government some more, or again, for our system works to prevent tyranny of the majority and protects every single citizen from each other. It is tryanny when the majority starts abridging the rights of the minority. The will of the people does not trump individuals rights or protections.

Civil rights laws were created to protect ethnic minorities and women from discrimination. Sexual behavior is no one of those things. If we extend them to protect homosexual marriage, then what about the polygamist?? There is no difference, it is sexual behavior. What about people who want to marry their dog? again no difference. You could make the argument that people who partake in abnormal sexual behavior are all born with that urge. This might even include those who have criminal sexual urges. Obviously we don't want to protect them. Sexual activity is behavior, and personally I do not believe the folks that say we are born with our sexual urges. I believe they come from a lifetime of environment and experiences, and of course choice. The gay marriage issue may be at the forefront right now, but federal overreach has been causing anger and resentment to build for years in the conservative parts of this country. I think those using federal civil rights laws to justify usurping states constitutionally granted power are wrong, and they endager our union. When this nation shatters under the stress of built up anger it will be those who violated our constitution who will bear the blame. As I have stated before, you cannot legislate acceptance, and forcing this issue in the states will only add to the festering anger about other federal overreaches that have occurred in the recent past. Will it be gay marriage that finally breaks the union??? who knows, probably not but a risk is being taken here by the left. What will trigger it??? more likely when the socialist policies of our government finally cause a massive economic collapse, that is when red states will secede. The gay marriage issue will likely be just one violation of the states rights in a laundry list of grievences against Washington.

Who would decorate our homes?

As the father of a gay son I was going to make fun of a Gay Battalion of men all decorated up in their finest gear.
But those Lesbians could kick some butt.

Seriously, Texas has one of the largest LGBT communities in the US. Live and let live.

Even my son recently discussed why March in the Gay Pride parade when it's no longer a big deal.

Another civil war in the horizon ? Another rebellion in the South over Gay rights ?
Why do some people want to die so much? Back in the Civil War, both the North and the South thought the war would be quick and easy. The North thought the south wouldn't fight so hard. The south thought that because they were more ready (many of their towns had their own militia) and because the nation had such a small army that was mostly out west fighting Indians, they would break away easily and the north would let them go.

Instead we had a long, bloody horrible conflict with relatives shooting each other in which 75% of surgeries were amputations.

I wonder how it would go now that we have hydrogen bombs? We could have a hydrogen bomb war...over gay marriage.

Actually, MacKinnon doesn't want Texas as part of the new country (which, and I swear I am not making this up, which he suggests be named "Reagan"). Too many Mexicans, see?
