The one thing I keep forgetting about the riots (using LA riots as an example).

They are an excellent time for gang members and other criminals to settle scores as well as to commit arson on your own property. Just too much unrest and opens up a whole reasonable doubt angle when the guy you had a beef with is shot dead by *some unknown assailant*.

It creates a lot of cover for bad action.

That's not what is going on. There's been a lot of rifles stolen around the St Louis area, and the ones that have been recovered are showing up in Ferguson. These animals are probably target practice for people preparing to shoot humans (likely both police and protesters, though armor piercing ammo has been recovered with the rifles, and the protesters are not the ones wearing armor).

Everybody should. This is not their playground where they can impose their will on innocent people.

If they cannot accept a verdict by a GJ, they need to be contained by any force necessary. If they are causing radical disturbance that includes harming innocent people or destroying or looting property, they need to be shot on sight. At this point, it would have nothing to do with race, and everything to do with the containment of willful lawlessness committed by American born terrorists.

Uhh...the innocent victims, the people that live there, the businesses that get looted, etc.
One of the legitimate purposes of government is to keep order.

The only problem with adopting such a gung-ho attitude is that it will surely result in innocent people dying too - people who don't want anything to do with the riots but need food, need to get to work, etc having to go out into what was escalated into a martial law war zone to get there. Its only a matter of time before a cop with a twitchy finger, a lot of frustration, and no sleep shoots an innocent person, is found innocent of accountability, and the riots continue.

When you have towns and schools sending out notices to people to prepare for possible riots like they would major storm systems, this is an issue. These people aren't participating in this. It's primarily people coming to the area with one intent - to cause harm and damage to a community where they don't even live.

This is why the "innocent" people need to take an extended time away for a little while. If they can't afford to do so, they should stay inside at home, stay armed, and protect what matters to them at all costs for the time being. Obama, Holder, Sharpton, and Jackson won't protect them... That's the one thing that's for certain. Everything else is a toss-up.
