There is nothing to understand. Most of the boy/girls never go all the way with the gender transformation as it is - lopping off the penis - so how are they transgender. How does a girl/boy grow a functioning one?

It's dystopian.
Why does this matter to you? And more importantly, why do people like this insist on demeaning others? What's the point? Yeah, being cisgender is "normal," but there's no reason to rub your privileged status in.

So you claim to know how to define a person as transgender, but then go immediately to "lopping off the penis" and "growing a functional one"?
Education is a powerful tool. You might try it sometime.
The question I want to ask is, why do more males than females think they are a wrong gender? Is this just my media perception, or is it fact? Same goes for homosexuality. Seems to affect men more than women, or this is, again, media perception?
The troubling thing here is this boy wrote a children's book - most likely destined for K12 Common Core -presenting this as perfectly normal. Your kids may bring this home from school one day.

I believe statistically, it's a pretty even split.

For trans people, there's actually kind of a harsh history. The first big transgender advocates were male-to-female, and it seems like they carried over a lot of their male privilege. In the beginning they were very dismissive of and marginalized female-to-male transgender people, to the point of excluding them altogether in some cases.
Combine this with the fact that testosterone is a hell of a drug. Trans women who transition post-puberty often have a harder time undoing what male hormones have done to their bodies. At the same time, trans men can get testosterone and in a fairly short period of time sprout a ton of facial hair, increase muscle mass, and get very effective fat distribution.
Some people have an image in their mind of what a trans woman looks like, and some trans women do look that way. Fewer people have a picture in their mind of what a trans man looks like, and most of us just tend to look a little shorter and rounder than our cis male counterparts.
So really, it is just media perception. It's a roughly equal split down both sides as far as I know.
I believe statistically, it's a pretty even split.
From what I understand, there tend to be more MtF transgender people than FtM by a fairly significant margin.
As for gay people, it's a bit more complicated. Statistically, it's all over the place. There's some evidence to suggest that women are more likely to be bisexual and men more likely to be gay, but there's also some stigma against men liking men more than women liking women, so it's possible that bisexual men are more likely to keep quiet than bisexual women are.

Something else I just read stated that these numbers are sometimes based on "bottom" (usually genital) surgeries alone. While bottom surgery is expensive for everyone, it's generally much more successful for male-to-female trans people. Without being too crass, it's easier to dig a hole than build a pole. So because of that, a lot of trans men opt not to have any genital-related bottom surgery. So if "have you had surgery on your junk?" is the measurement being used, trans men are going to be underrepresented.
