The latest headlines state There is no ambiguity on climate change..., yet you see millions of Americans idling their V-8s while updating their Facebook profiles, or speeding down the highway getting mediocre MPG from even hybrid cars.

Shale fracking is proclaimed as U.S. "energy independence" when the math doesn't come close to those claims, let alone the fact that we should cut back on fossil fuels, not wallow in them.

At work, the topic of the environment barely comes up and the typical blue collar drone seems embarrassed to mention it, if they think about it at all.

A wise species would at least have some interest in its fate, rather than riding headlong into a greed-based demise. I conclude that most people just aren't all that bright, especially those of the "conservative" persuasion who only want to conserve their own hides.

Want to buy my Volt?

I got the tax credit out of it so I don't want it anymore.

Go read up on Fisker and all the pork they got for "green energy" A lot of people are useful idiots.

A UN panel of 300 years ago would have supported slavery had it existed. Don't be a sucker thinking they aren't biased.

Let me guess, you are anti-nuke too? Our countries attempts to get away from fossil fuels was stymed for decades by environmentalists fyi. So come off the high horse.

Oh, and all the rare earth metals that we need for the electric cars and other tech is being opposed for mining in the US by people like you.

In short, take a good long hard look in the mirror rather than taking the intellectually easy route of blaming others.

Good luck with that post on the CD politics forum. I'm sure there will plenty of people to come along and threaten to kill you with their 1,000 rounds of semi-automatic ammunition. The American people are an uneducated, spoiled, and hateful rabble. They will only recognize global warming when NYC goes under water or it gets so warm that the US can no longer grow wheat in its heartland and people start going hungry. Fine by me since I'm getting old and have lived a good life up to now. I'm just sitting back and watching humanity meet its fate. Karma can be a *****. Too bad for you younger folks.

Both of my adult children have chosen not to have children of their own, and I am actually glad about that for the very reasons you articulate. We are destroying this planet at an alarming rate, and the majority of Americans--represented very well by conservatives on this forum--don't give a damn, so long as it doesn't immediately impact their lifestyle.

But it will begin to affect us all soon enough, and then you can bet the ones bitching and moaning the loudest will be the very same ones who have spent years denying that it's happening.

A poster from Ca_North post self-righteous, snotty and superior threads. How original.

Dude, such misanthropic rants are common here on P&OC, but they are not going to win anyone to your side. I am on your side in the environmental movement, but you sound like and angry tea partier.

Wow, OP, you are a divisive one. Surrounded by those who don't agree with you must be tough. Even worse, these shaved apes are passively affecting your very existence. I suggest better therapy than anonymous internet forums is direct this excellent rant to these violators of your personal code. I guarantee you will be living the life you desire when nobody will change your tires, sell you agricultural products, supply heat to your home etc etc...

Easiest way I've found to keep things going and be green at the same time is to buy American. First, you buy less (because its $$$), but everything lasts longer. Second, any regulations we imposed are only good within our borders. Lastly, healthy countries with good economies are more willing to to fine tune themselves for a better environment. Applies to energy, too. When supporting newer oil extraction methods (shale, fracturing and offshore) within our borders, every drop cleanly extracted is more important than the drill-pump-leave method required with more unstable countries.
